MS State game years ago and I brought my dad who was a State grad. State was up big, cold game, my dad was loving it and then we saw a streaker come out of left field. The streaker jogged from the left field line to the right field and back before he was caught and crowd was going nuts. We were reading our local Natchez paper the next morning and saw the streaker was from my home town..good times

That sucks! I guess that box is still unchecked on your bucket list.

Early 90’s playing USC in the 6 team regional. We won the regional , but Jacque Jones for USC hit 5-6 home runs during the regional. He hit number 5 against us. After the side was retired , he jogged out to his position in left field. The entire outfield erupted with a chant of “Transfer, Transfer Transfer”. He smiled and tipped his cap to the lunatics.

Forget his name but the weenies had a third baseman who also played basketball. At some point in the game, with the weenies in the field, someone from the 3rd base line rolled a basketball out past him; the SS kicking it off the field. Took a while for the fans to realize what had happened but when the SS kicked it, they went nuts. The 3rd baseman stood there with his thumb up his arse.

Yep, I wanted to play there. They moved the game to another venue...

The 8 team regional over memorial day weekend in 1986 we won to go to our first CWS was insane. Rain caused a Memorial Day Monday finish over Tulane.
With lightning all around on Sunday during the Tulane game, I was standing on the back of the fence in right field with a few other students. Joey Belle hit a HR ball so hard that it cleared my head by maybe 15 feet and still cleared the small parking lot and half of Nicholson. Hardest hit ball I have ever seen. I don't think it got 30 feet off the ground and was making this noise as it flew by like it was in pain. Everyone on the fence was completely speechless for a few seconds before going crazy.

I was at that game too. That was the 1994 regional final against USC. I think we won 12-10 and USC had the bases loaded when we got the final out. That USC team had Aaron Boone, Geoff Jenkins and Jacque Jones, all of which played in the majors. Jones hit three HR's in that regional final. After the 2nd home run, he got a little animated and the crowd got on him. But after that 3rd home run, the outfield crowd started the "transfer" chant and gave him an ovation when he returned to his outfield position.

Anyone know where I can find highlights of game 1 vs Stony Brook? It used to be on Youtube but it's gone now.

There was a regional or big SEC series in the mid-90s where the ticket takers messed up and let too many folks in... they had to let 2000-3000 kids sit in the LF/RF foul territory for the game
I was just a kid at the time so someone may correct the exact details but i think they let in too many students (general admission).. so folks with ticketed seats had nowhere to sit?
Weird stuff. Would never happen this day and age but was quite the memory for 10y/o Honk

IIRC most of the 18 runs came AFTER there were 2 outs

Yes, there are more positive memories but to think something called “Stoney Brook” came in and slapped us around in a Super Regional is just weird. Now, a lot of folks forget, SB had just beaten Miami at Miami to get to us so they quite simply were a good team that showed no fear.

Also there. Made the Ga Tech game in ‘96 as well
USC also had Gabe Alvarez at shortstop. He was also a first round pick

Beat ya to it. Do you remember how many consecutive doubles we hit?
8, I believe. I remember the crowd cheered the GT pitchers when they got an out. Never seen anything like it.

I remember once when I was there mid to late 80’s the hospital helicopter hovering over the field to help dry it after a heavy rain

One of the regionals where UCLA came into town, got eliminated, & the whole team started partying hard under the oaks. Coach started walking around, pushing the players towards the bus, a flight to catch, none were leaving, the bus driver started honking the horn, no one was leaving, coach started begging, no one was leaving & they ended up missing their flight. Coach just sat down by an ice chest & joined in on the fun. 3-4 of the players ended up with their jerseys off, chugging non stop. Best post game party I ever saw at The Box.
