I do like his confidence though, we need more guys with swagger and get back to that attitude we need.

Have you seen our team play yet? Confidence and swagger is far from a problem..

Much less because he's actually been great this year, but still negative because it's still Sam Houston State.

Any excitement shown by the freshman for scoring his first TD.....of his college career....in Death Valley...... would have been torn apart by this board.

He got carried away and it looked like CLM gave him more than an ear full. These are some very talented freshman and how about we all just enjoy the season.

why does the opponent matter?
Because making a play against a very weak opponent is not impressive, and the Heisman is an award for being very impressive. Ergo, making plays against very weak opponents does not warrant references to the Heisman (like, say, striking the pose).

Miles would have still chewed his arse off- and rightfully so. LF is a young guy with the world's weight in expectations bearing down on him, so I can kind of understand the kid wanting to let off some steam. But I think CLM is correct in letting him know he had a little help on those plays.....

.....Unless it was all planned out by the Mad Hatter himself- and Buga is about to be unleashed on the college FB landscape.

Which he is, of course. But I'm going with my first thought.

it warrants it if your goal is to win it your freshman year.

Too long to print here, but it includes 6 catches for 291 yards and 4 TDs.

Holy shite...it isn't about "tearing the players down"...it is about pointing out that the kid did something that he shouldn't have done.

Honestly, it is time to forgive and forget. Everyone was in a huff over this for 24 hours. It is time to let it go and move forward. I don't think it was that big of a deal, but it was a big enough deal that it merited some discussion. Now is the time to let it go.

No, it doesn't. Poke around some other message boards and read some wiki articles about football. Once you've learned a little bit about the game, you'll probably understand.

Wait, so you guys think it would have been more acceptable in a big game like Bama or Auburn than SHSU?

Getting flagged in any game is not acceptable. Bringing undue attention to yourself is not acceptable either. I like Odell's philosophy, act like you have been there before.
However, if your showing off and your only goal is to bring attention to yourself at least a big opponent would show you are capable of great things. At least 3 TD receptions against Bama would be an outstanding accomplishment. Maybe if were stomping Bama and his last TD was with a few seconds left I'd take the 15 yards. 3TDs against SHS not so much.

The same. It would have been just as stupid for Dural to do it as it was for LF. I don't think anyone minds college players having a little fun, but how about waiting until you've actually done something to warrant such action before doing it. The reaction would (and should) have been the same if another player from any other team would have struck the "Heisman pose" in week 2 vs. a 1-AA opponent, to laugh at how absurd the gesture was

Desmond Howard did it after a big punt return, in the final week of the season, against his school's biggest rival, at a time where it was largely considered that he was the Heisman front runner. All of those factors combined (along with Keith Jackson's "hellooooooo Heisman" call) made it a classic CFB moment. The impromptu nature for Howard makes it memorable. The rest of these guys (not just LF) who do it, just look like clowns. Timing is everything.

Everyone has this wrong. It was not a Heisman Pose. Look at a photo of it. Each hand is doing the BUGA Nation sign, the ball is on the ground not in his arrms, one leg is raised, left hand is on his face. This is a BUGA Nation is coming for you! pose. I can understand the national media getting it wrong, but locals should know better.

How dare someone criticize a player in any negative way on a sports message board!!!

If Yeldon struck the pose against florida atlantic you people would be tearing him up

Especially as a freshman that hadn't done anything yet.
It was embarrassing.
