What was your realistic expectation for LSU baseball this season?

Mine was Omaha or bust. I know winning a National Title is hard and takes some luck, but I went in to the season saying if they don’t at least make it to Omaha, it would be a very disappointing season.

My expectation is always a national seed. While being champions and getting to Omaha is always the goal, it's baseball and the better team doesn't always win. If 2 pitchers have the game of their life against you in the tournament or a couple bounces go the wrong way your season is over.

To me a national seed shows you were consistent as a top team over the course of the year.

My prediction has been spot on to this point. I thought the young guys while good, couldn’t carry the Offense. And the pitching while good, would not be enough to win because the conference is too tough. I had us going .500 at best and traveling as a 2/3 seed.

My hope is always Omaha, and it was this year. However, I understood that this would be a very inexperienced team. I felt like this team could be a bit above .500 in the conference and perhaps steal a regional and even super regional with masterful pitching. I'd be lying if I said that the early power surge didn't blind me a little bit. The bullpen struggles kept me from getting too high, though. It's a tough road to even sniff .500 in the conference at this point, much less make it to a regional.

I expected to be competitive in the SEC. I knew the SEC was loaded this year and I knew we would be carrying a young line up. I was thinking a few game above .500 in league play. Looking like it’s gonna be tough to meet my expectations this season.

In a stacked SEC I would have expected to host a regional. Maybe a national seed if we were lucky.

Now we will be lucky to even make post season play.

Omaha. Last year was going to suck and it was somewhat expected though we still had time to turn things around. This year was supposed to be tough due to the talent returning all over the league, but we were still supposed to be a top 10 team and compete. I was thinking 17-20 wins and a regional host at minimum.

All of you saying "my realistic expectation was Omaha..."

That's not realistic.

High expectations don’t mean unrealistic expectations.

Based on the team reviews on here I expected us to be dominant. Deepest pitching staff my arse.

Omaha for this team is and was unrealistic any way you want to slice it. It's ok to have high expectations, but nobody in their right mind should have been assuming Omaha for this team. There was entirely to many question marks surrounding it.

At a minimum 500 in sec play
That’s good enough to make tourney
Not even close to that and next to impossible to get there at this point

I think Dandy Don's poll regarding SEC series wins had most of the fan base averaging slightly above .500 in this.

My thoughts (pretty much every year) included above .500 in SEC play, hosting a regional, traveling for a super with an outside chance at Omaha.

I really thought this might be a year where LSU was a national seed and Omaha bound the way the media was pumping this pitching staff.
