Being at DKR sitting in a sea of orange my exact thoughts were if we don’t get this we might lose this game. That game at that point no team was making stops and Ellinger was rolling on us as he wanted when they had the ball. I told the Texas fan next to who I became cool with if y’all come after Joe he will make you pay right here. Now that sounds silly like of course they were gonna come after him but they could have not put on the blitz and maybe that play doesn’t go the distance being over aggressive is kinda what I meant.

Good times I’ll be senile one day but I’ll never forget that play. I had such a great view of that play being in the lowest section of the uppers on about the 40-45 yard line. It happened so fast I couldn’t believe it at first so I held my cheers for a minute to make sure there were no flags.

God my stomach gets excited thinking about that moment.

You're quite possibly correct. On the other hand, if we didn't score, but did get the first down, we could have run the clock with additional first downs and won the game that way. At any rate, I glad it turned out the way it did.

That was the moment we all knew this was a new era of LSU football. This is the era we asked Miles for the last 5 years of his career to adapt to but he never could or would unfortunately.

We had gotten a big stop on the previous possession—first one in the second half—and I thought if we didn’t pick up the first the defense would hold a second straight time. I was expecting a running play.

I was at the game next to my friend from UT and as soon as the ball left Joe’s hand he went, “aw frick.”

Was in the last row in the middle of the endzone. Our seats were between the goal posts. I really thought we were gonna run the ball and force them to burn a timeout (I was almost hoping that happened. I’m a pessimist by nature. An incomplete pass there would’ve been deadly). I was just hoping the defense would either finally get a stop or let them score quick so we could get a walk off field goal.

During the play when they got to Joe I was almost begging him to go down and take a sack so it wouldn’t be incomplete. It went from sheer terror to glory pretty dang quick.

That play changed the whole narrative of the season and the potential of the offense! I was screaming at the TV at that point in the game. Old offense we would have settled for a punt and probably lost the game. (Les) I was a believer after that!

I was convinced if we didn’t get that first down, they were def gonna go down the field and score.

My brother and I were at the game. Before the play, I turned to him and said, "We're either going to run it up the middle like usual to burn clock...or Burrow's gonna win it right now!"

At Texas the way the game was going if we punt I think our Magical season may never happen.
