We went there around 12:30 for lunch. There was a bluegrass band performing outside, and we were the only people there not wearing Alabama clothing.

Definitely a unique atmosphere, and I really liked the ribs. I probably wouldn't recommend it to a vegetarian though

Don't know how old you are but there are some fun bars on the strip. Had a great time in 07 there.

Dreamland is a must for anybody from out of town. May not be the best, but its certainly the most famous and certainly a unique atmosphere.

Da ribs be sum good shite at Dreamland.

BTW, there's also a Dreamland branch in Mobile too for those who can't make it up to Tuscaloosa. (Take Springhill exit off I-65 to the right and immediately come back around south down the Service Road. DL will be right there on the left about a mile down at Old Shell Road. Can't miss it).......

If you are a golfer- Play one of the Robert Trent Jones golf courses.

Houndstooth is a cool bar, and the owner is a good dude- saw him give an LSU fan his tickets to the 07 game. The LSU fan had been pounding drinks and looking for tickets for 2 days in his bar, and he hooked him up 45 minutes before. I thought that was pretty cool- and I will give that guy some business.

RTJ courses are no where close to T-town. Nearest one is in Hoover.

These are just my recommendations. I live here.

Golf -- Ol Colony $45 or The Links of Tuscaloosa $32

Food -- Cypress Inn (lot of choices, great food), Hokkaido (Jap), Iguana Grill (mexican, cheap beer), Longhorn (steaks), Wentzel's Seafood, Baumhower's Wings (cheap beer) Mugshots (cheap beer and burgers)

Bars -- Houndstooth, Capone's 4 and 23rd or Rhythm and Brews

yes and it is next door to the new dreamland.

as far as golf, ol colony much better course than the links

houndstooth has been rebuilt, has a huge patio facing the strip and the scenery's not bad either.Innisfree Pub on Univ Blvd is pretty nice place as well.

The state of Alabama north of I-10 is a gastronomic wasteland. Few original spots, but it is a redneck based meat and potatoes state. 'Stuff it with cream cheese and wrap it with bacon' is Alabama gourmet.

I enjoyed Dreamland, Tuscaloosa location only, a few times, but it got old. Hope one of the suggestions plays out for you, I spend too much time in Alabama, I gave up a few years ago.

Good luck Tigers, take 3.

The new Innisfree Pub has been the place to be recently in Tuscaloosa. Shouldn't be too busy because most students are going home. Saw Mark Gottfried in there the other night. Drunk as a skunk...
