That UCF douche cheap shotted him and it flipped the switch.

This is just Hollywood thinking. Burrow played lights out the last 4 games of the regular season in 2018. He had a shitty October and of course the bama game sucked but after that he turned it on and never looked back.

Do you mean Scott Frost? I can understand why Ohio State didn’t work out but what the hell was Frost thinking?

Frost has never been an Ohio St coach. From 2013-2015 he was Oregon’s OC. He became UCF’s head coach in 2016.

It isn't like Haskins and Jones were some bums in college

that has to go down as one of Urban’s biggest regrets as a coach.

I’d bet big that wasn’t his biggest regret as a coach. I’d bet even bigger it wasn’t his biggest regret as a person. The guy has a few skeletons if you know what I mean

Barrett and Haskins were better fits for the Ohio St offense. Ohio St had a clear superiority of athletes than the other Big 10 schools, so he wanted to get the ball in their hands ASAP. This did not play into Joe's strengths of reading defenses, finding secondary receivers, extending plays, checking into better plays. Also, there were far superior defensive players in the SEC versus the Big 10, so that offense wouldn't have worked near as well and you would have had defenders jumping routes and the QB not changing the plays

As to why Haskins was above Burrow after the spring idk.

Technically, Haskins was not above Burrow after the spring. Urban was non-committal. Joe, being BDJ, said, "Did I earn the starter spot or not?" Urban would not commit. Joe said, "I'm out. Don't have time for games." Urban has never been very good at managing QB controversies. Ohio State squandered a repeat championship opportunity in 2015 by bouncing back and forth between Barrett and Cardale Jones. Cardale had clearly earned the spot, but he didn't play Urban's style and he was never Urban's recruit.

Joe wasn't really Urban's recruit, either. Tom Herman convinced him to bring Joe in.

Frost was the coach at Nebraska in spring of 2018 when he had a chance to take burrow as a transfer.

He’s on record saying “you think he’s better than what we got?”

Burrows brother played for Nebraska I’m sure it was a slap in the face to joe.

Completely agree. Nothing more than a Hollywood narrative.

Burrow beat 4 top 10 teams in 2018. Opening night against Miami (8), orchestrated the last second drive to set up Cole Tracy’s GW FG at Auburn (7), 20 point win against Georgia (2) and UFC (7) in the bowl game.

He had 2 bad games in losses to Florida in the swamp and Alabama at home. But played great in that 7OT loss to A&M.

There was always glimpses that he was special in 2018. We just needed to adapt the offense which we did towards the end of the season.

Remember 2018 the hype coming out of camp was #7 Giles….Yikes

Maybe Joe isn’t BDJ without a chip on his shoulder. Regardless, their miss, LSU’s gain. Hell, Miles told Chase he wasn’t a receiver

What they didn’t see were the intangibles. Without those Burrow was not the best, and those are hard to see without actual game time.

Both of his brothers and his father played at Nebraska. Frost fricked up big time.

While I understand your reasoning, I think you may overlook one thing:
Ohio State picking any other QB over Burrow could be a large part in driving him to be as great as he’s been.

This... you could definitely see what was there in 2018, his ability to read defenses and his touch were very evident, as well as his ability to make plays. He was throwing too many interceptions but that was improving through the season.

The Joe Burrow movie starts with him taking that brutal hit during the UCF game, darkness.
his eyes pop open and we hear a voiceover.

“It was at that moment I decided to be the best college quarterback ever.”

I know that's the romantic version about how things went down, but for me, Joe became "Heisman Joe" during the overtime "loss" to A&M.

If a guy doesn't pan out in the pros, I've noticed fans of many schools let that failure color their perception of what they did in college. LSU fans do it with JaMarcus Russell all the time.

I mean at least Haskins was invited to the Heisman ceremony. So what if Meyer had 2 Heisman caliber QB's on the roster? Only one gets to play and one of them broke his hand in the spring.
