Be a contractor. You will never run out of work because the demand for work outweighs the amount of contractors. Hell, you could get a handyman license and make $80 grand a year. That's all I got.

Pappas bros steakhouse is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to.

At least top 10 nationally for a steak. They were one of the first to untilize dry aging as a mainstay. And as much undeserved shade Papasitos receives, they would be hands down the best Americanized Mexican food east of Beaumont (and its all Americanized anywhere north of the outskirts of Brownsville).

Hell, the Pappas Seafood off Kirby is lowkey some of the best outside of Louisiana.

I will give you Pappadeauxs. It has become a seafood version of Popeyes. Not awful food, but the frickery in the clientele will make itself known more often than not.

Not if my plans to open a strip club under the same name come to fruition first.

Next to Broadway, Htown has the largest theatre district in the USA…. Maybe have some plays or go to Jones Hall for a concert. Dynamo soccer downtown or the Rockets… during the day take the kids for a downtown tunnel tour and have lunch underground and shop. Cant do that in Louisiana. The tunnel system is underneath the entire CBD. Houston has the greatest selection of ethnic food anywhere. Pick your country and they have it. Htown is awesome.

Houston is known for 3 cuisines: Tex mex, bbq, and vietnamese. Ninfas or El Tiempo for Tex Mex/Fajitas. Pit room, Truth bbq, Gatlins, Killens BBQ, or Pinkertons for BBQ. Pho Saigon, Pho ben, or go to Chinatown/Bellaire and pick a random vietnamese spot.

Pretty solid suggestions. Would add Blood Bros for BBQ. Also, great opportunity to get Korean BBQ. Can’t get that in LA (that’s any good). Recommend Bori

Kansas City is absolutely the BBQ capital of the world. Anyone who thinks anything else lacks a knowledge of BBQ history. . . . I write that as a former Houston resident who is at least very well-trained if not an expert at smoking, grilling, and BBQ sauces.

I don't wanna hear about your childhood.

Houston, Texas BBQ circa 2025 >>>>> KC BBQ (no matter how much sauce you experts put on it).

Here’s the thing an about Houston that makes it better than any other bbq area…

You want Kansas City BBQ? You can find it in Houston.

You want Carolina BBQ? You can find it in Houston.

You want Memphis BBQ? You can find it in Houston.

And of course Texas BBQ.

And btw if you want a South African BBQ or Korean BBQ? You can find that too.

To the purists it won’t be as good as the original, but it will be pretty damn good. I know many of you moan about diversity, but it does have its advantages. Houston has everything.

LOL?!? What?? Since when?

Houston has a TON of different cuisines. Tex-Mex of course but I wouldn’t try to narrow it down to three beyond that.

Yikes. I haven't been there in 30 years so apparently things have changed.

Disregard.

Houston still has great Live music; especially downtown.

I recommend the Continental Club on the N/S Metro line in South Downtown. (you can get late night breakfast just around the corner).

The Continental Club

The N/S Metro line on the North end of downtown is packed on both sides with bars....some of them even trendy.

Houston Press

On the SE side of Downtown (two blocks south of where the Dynamo play) is a Live music bar that is really an open air backyard with a real working Ferris Wheel for your date (wife) to say WHEEEE upon when she rides it. It is just a half block from some 45 ft tall statues of the Beatles.

called: The Truckyard

-- or --

if you don't mind driving a bit (but still in Houston city limits)

for Heavy Metal, its:

The Scout Bar
