I consider myself a "glass half full" type person and willing to give "the benefit of the doubt" ..... but what I've seen the past few weeks IS NOT LSU BASEBALL. What the hell happened?

CPM has lost this team. I think the glue that held them together has departed the scene.

We have a coach that has packed it in. He is unfocused and the team follows its coach. Plus this is the result of years of bad recruiting. Not a lot of talent on this team.

I think that it is poor coaching! We supposedly have talent.

Trying to turn a double play with two outs said it all.
They’ve checked out, just like their coach.

Maybe he is talking about an intangible thing and not a player or coach. Winning has certainly departed the scene.

Seems to be a total lack of chemistry and believe much of LSU's successes under PM were the result of player leadership and this outfit doesn't have it.

I do question the man's thinking, hell, he released CReid and this kid wields a nice bat.

PM cut Reid from the team because he thought his team was so talented that he didn't room for a guy with Reid's skill set. I think this is telling of PM's current assessment skills. And you have to assess a lot in baseball.

I feel the same way. I’m an old fart who used to go to games before Bertman. No body but the players patents and girl friends and me, walking my infant son into Alex Box. When Bertman was hired, we bought a family season pass for $35. We saw LSU grow into the premier NCAA baseball program. It doesn’t give me any special insight, but it does give me a lot of perspective.
I’ve never seen a team with so many injuries; especially to pitchers. But, past that, this team never had a “Friday starter”. The Hess experiment failed. He never should have been moved from the bullpen. That’s where he thrives. MacDonald, Ogea, Gausman, Nola...we don’t have anyone like that. Maybe if our young arms get healthy, someone will emerge next year.
And I don’t know why our young pitchers can’t consistently win midweek games. That was never a problem in past years.
Has Coach lost the team? They showed a lot of heart against Ole Miss. But I think losing the Sunday game has left them with a hangover. Baseball is a funny game and things can turn around quickly. I hope it happens, but I don’t see it.
All that being said, I don’t think it’s time to “clean house”. I was ready to move on from Smoke Laval when we did that. But I want to see if the young pitchers get healthy and see what happens next season. Despite occasional slumps against LH pitchers, the offense has been good enough. We need a healthy set of arms to make a complete team. Now, are we doing something wrong that is causing all these arm issues? Are we just being too cautious? Are these young kids too worried about their future? Who knows?
I’m always going to watch/listen/stream the Tigers until the last out. I’ve seen enough miracle comebacks, including Sunday, to make it worth my while. Go Tigers!
