If the PAC12 champion is a one loss Oregon, who lost to Auburn, I think they still get in over Bama, but it will be closer. If Utah wins, they at least won't have that easy comparison. But they lost to USC who is bad. If OU wins out, they probably get in even with a bad beat against K State simply because they've got undefeated Baylor left to play and the B12 championship game.

Bottom line is that we are all Auburn fans now.

Is it though? tOSU went over their conference champion in 2016.

IF the committee still thinks LSU is one of the 4 best, they'll go in. And we have a pretty good resume.

At the very least, if you think Bama can make it right now, you should have n problem with LSU getting in in that scenario.

Bama at 5 could also be set up to get into the CFP if Georgia loses and Oregon/Utah don’t pass ”the eye test” going forward. Particularly if Oregon is the 1 loss PAC 12 team with a loss to Auburn in a game they should have won.

I doubt it. Putting Oregon in pulls west coast viewership and another excellent QB into the picture.

Burrow, Fields, Herbert , amd Lawrence all from different regions of the country is a a damn dream for the playoff committee.

Have you not seen LSU's body of work?

LSU is getting in over any 1 loss team and it's not even close.

True but I don’t think Bama is getting in.

Their current ranking and other teams rankings are set up so the teams behind them will jump Bama if they keep winning.

Keep in mind there weekly rankings are just fodder for ESPN and sports radio. Nothing more.

Bottom line is that undefeated or 1 loss power 5 conference champs are going to get in over any 1 loss non conference champ.

The only chance LSU has to get in without winning the SEC is for UGA to get a second loss and a couple other P5 conference champs to end up with 2 losses

I think Utah/Oregon are basically interchangeable. People just say Oregon because they are ranked slightly higher than Utah at the moment, and are a bigger name.

I believe Oregon is.

Oregon's only loss was game 1 of the season on a late prayer play to Auburn (a great defense). On a neutral field too.

It's much easier to justify giving them a pass there than anyone else with a loss, IMO.

frick this gay earth if a 1-loss Alabama gets in over a 1-loss P5 conference champion because of some ill-defined and subjective "eye test".

Prepare yourself.

Sorry, but I disagree.

We have seen it happen before. Have we not?

I can't see how you can deny LSU if they run the table in the regular season against one of the best schedules.

I just can't see it. Especially as long as it's close.

Now you almost have me wanting Georgia to lose this weekend when I was all in Auburn losing so Alabama won't have a good win.

Nah. One loss LSU to the #4 team doesn’t keep them out. Resume too good.

The playoff will consist of 13-0 or 12-1 teams. No 11-1 team is getting in.

If the committee takes injuries into account, OR was missing pretty much all of their WRs that game AND they dominated and only lost on a last second play.

okay i'll play. lets assume LSU loses to UGA and they are in.

So you have Ohio St, Clemson, UGA and...

LSU 12-1
OU 12-1
Bama 11-1
Oregon 12-1

Which one of these would have a better resume than LSU? Or for that matter, which one is even remotely CLOSE?

The only thing they told the world is that the following games COULD have an impact:

LSU v A & M
AU v UGA
AU v UA
SECCG
Minn v Iowa
Minn v. Wis
OSU v PSU
OSU v Mich
Big 10 CG
Baylor v OU
OU v OSU
Big 12 CG
Utah v UCLA
Pac 12 CG
Clemson v USCe

I don't think it is saying that at all. I think it is saying we are wanting to keep Bama at #4 but we have to move them.

Bama gets in, if there are bunch of 1 loss teams. Even if the 1 loss team wins the conference championship, it can be very possible for Bama to get in.

There was no way they could leave Bama in the Top 4. But they want to keep them up there this high so they could justify putting them in if there are a bunch of 1 loss teams.

If the quality wins is the reason UGA is no 4, then they lack of quality wins should have pushed Bama down further.

agree...Oregon will be #4 in the CFP, crowned as Conference champions over a Bama team that came in 3rd place in the SEC, didn’t even win their division, didn’t play in the SEC Conference Championship game and using a 5 point loss to LSU as a win toward their goal of getting in....

Oregon and OU at least have an argument since they are conference champs. I don't know what the committee will put more stock in, body of work (LSU) or conference championship (Oregon, OU).

Further complicating things is Baylor may still finish 13-0. At that point we are outside looking in with a loss, as a 13-0 Baylor team would almost certainly get the nod over 12-1 non conference champion LSU.

Good news is that we will beat UGA, so none of this will be an issue.

No we have not.

I don’t think an undefeated or 1-loss conference champ has been left out of the playoffs for a non conference champ.

The exception might be The year TCU was left out but the Big 12 didn’t have a conference championship game then.

The year OSU got in without winning the BIG10 the conference champ had 2 losses.

Now is it 100% certain the LSU HAS the win the SEC to get in? No but it is likely unless complete chaos happens.

Don’t leave it to chance. Win the SEC and don’t leave it to the committee

With them putting Georgia above Alabama it tells me they are looking at resumes and what you have done. That’s great news for those of us that want Bama left out.

It's more likely than Bama getting in without even winning their division this year.
