... is that Conference Championships are going to be great opportunities to "earn" that 4th spot.

1. LSU/UGA SECCG winner is in.
2. Ohio State/Penn State/Minnesota B1G winner is in, unless something screwy happens like Minnesota loses to Iowa, but wins B1G championship.
3. Clemson is going to coast in, but we all knew that.
4. The Oregon/Utah Pac-12 winner is in, unless they both somehow end up with 2 losses.

Bottom line: only way Bama gets in is for Oregon and Utah both to wind up with 2 losses, imo.

Fans who are not fans of rematches in the CFP should pull for Oregon, Ohio State, Minnesota, Utah to all keep winning until their conference championship games.

As for OU, they have to win out in impressive fashion to be in the conversation for the 4th spot, and also hope that Baylor and Texas keep winning.

If Ohio State and LSU are in, the Minnesota and Georgia are out genius.

Both LSU & Georgia are in if both win out in the regular season and Georgia beats LSU in the SEC Title game.

Depends, LSU could still be in with a close loss to Georgia in the SEC championship and Georgia would also be in.

But I do wonder of the OP has considered that Bama at 5 could also be set up to get into the CFP if Georgia loses and Oregon/Utah don’t pass ”the eye test” going forward. Particularly if Oregon is the 1 loss PAC 12 team with a loss to Auburn in a game they should have won.

frick this gay earth if a 1-loss Alabama gets in over a 1-loss P5 conference champion because of some ill-defined and subjective "eye test".

I think Oregon gets in over Bama in that case.

Oregon would have won out and sit at 12-1, and fresh off their most impressive win of the year by beating Utah in the Pac-12 championship.

Bama will be 11-1 and likely have one win over a ranked team, Auburn. And Auburn will drop if they lose to Georgia beforehand. That'd put Auburn at 8-4 and ranked somewhere in the 20s at best.

i dont know how much it matters, but the pac12 would RIOT if their 1 loss champ doesnt get in.

even though he would have to recuse himself, the Chairman of the CFP committee is the Oregon AD.

THen it becomes a question of LSU's 12-1 body of work vs Oregon's much weaker 12-1 body of work + their conference title.

Bottom line if that happens should be that we are both 12-1 and our loss came against a team that is in the playoffs and theirs came from a team that was 3rd in OUR division that we beat.

If everyone holds serve only 1 SEC team is getting in.

This idea that LSU can lose the SECCG and still walk into the playoff is a pipe dream.

Especially if the other P5 champions all have 1 or zero losses

I really don’t think so. If UGA comes into the SECCG with 1 loss then it’s a playoff game. Loser is out

I don't follow either of those two teams. Is Oregon the better team or do we just want Oregon to win?
