I would love to see a toss to Williams with a throw back to Daniels or a run to the short side by Daniels with a reverse by KB. I believe the entire defense would run to Daniels side and open up the wide side for big gain by Boutte.

I don't like that shotgun on a 4th and 1 against Bama

Hard disagree.

First off: Shotgun runs are more effective in short yardage situations than runs from under center. The defense is spread out and has to worry about more than just stuffing the line and pushing the OL backwards.

And second: That effect is multiplied when you have a QB who is a rushing threat. It is DAMN hard to defend against a rushing QB in shotgun in a short yardage situation. Even if they guess right and don't get fooled by the misdirection, they STILL have to stop us from getting a single yard. When you go under center you eliminate their need to worry about anything but pushing our OL backward. Spread them out and make them guard every option and it becomes MUCH harder to stuff. All year we've been excellent in short yardage situations for exactly this reason.

What Jayden Daniels are *you* talking about? lol because the Jayden Daniels who plays QB for LSU is like 6'1".

The "end around" we ran in 2010 v. Alabama with Deangelo Peterson. Play is at 17:14

Haven’t had many reverses. Maybe a couple plays specifically designed to get Boutte and Daniels the ball in unorthodox ways. The Daniels running game is going to be a HUGE factor for this game in whether or not we win.

I am not a fan of Gimmic offensive plays against a well-coached team. Running reverses and pitch back to the Qb takes a lot of long blocking to be effective.

One play that I see a lot of teams using that always seems to work is " the Wheel route to running back" Alabama uses this play often to Gibbs.

It always seems to be wide open play.

Jayden is taller than 6'1", he's closer to 6'4 or 6'5. And before your war and peace response to me, you should have noted that I was specifically referring to 4th and 1. I mean, are you just trolling or do you have reading comprehension issues? Of course I'm aware that our identity is the shotgun. Jesus Christ man. Reading is fundamental.

I believe you actually meant to say “More of those intentionally under thrown, Long TD passes” like the 1 to Jenkins when he had 3 Ole Miss DB’s all over him yet none managed to look back at the ball. Yea that was a beautiful duck. Lol

You’re being sarcastic about the “intentionally underthrown” part right?

Honestly I would rather him get 3 interceptions against Bama if he just didn’t overthink and would’ve found Jenkins about 2 seconds before he did, when Jenkins didn’t have anyone within 10 yards of him.

Agreed. Just go for it. I mean, it’s Bama. Either we win or we get blown out. Take a gamble. That’s the same attitude Ole Miss had in the popcorn game, didn’t work out but at least they went for it.

Something I noticed, that deep ball he threw in the Florida game when he had a free play, was one of the best passes I’ve seen him throw, which isn’t saying much but it does say something. He knew it was a free play and the pressure was off, so he just went for it. If he approaches this game like he’s playing with house money (it’s season 1 with BK, so we kind of are), I think we really do have a shot.

Boutte in the backfield, takes the snap, laterals to JD rolling right, JD hits Nabors on the go route. I'd settle for a productive first half though.

He’s literally not. I have stood next to the guy and I promise you he is not 6’4” lol. If he was a legit 6’4” he wouldn’t be *listed* at 6’3”.

Lmao what are you even talking about? I specifically acknowledged that that’s what I was talking about too. That’s why I literally said that even if they don’t fall for the misdirection “they will still have to stop us from getting a single yard”. Those were literally my exact words. The point is that if the misdirection works, it’s an easy conversion, if the fake fools them, it’s an easy conversion, but even if they don’t, you STILL have the chance to convert mano a mano. But if you go under center straight at them, mano a mano is your only hope.

It’s also why I said “Shotgun runs are more effective in short yardage situations than runs from under center”.

It’s also why I said “ All year we've been excellent in short yardage situations for exactly this reason.”

This was all right there in my first comment. Literally zero possible way to miss it, assuming you can read.

I mean it is truly insane how fricking stupid some people are. I am absolutely begging you to take an adult literacy course.

Yeah man, jayden daniels is not particularly tall. He’s certainly not 6’5” like that other guy said. I have stood next to him and I would put him at 6’1” or 6’2”. He’s listed at 6’3” fwiw. So idk why you would think it’s absurd for me to say he’s 6’1”. Justin Jefferson was listed at 6’3” and he measured at 6’1.25” at the combine.
