Yeah. I think there are so many that you can make a case for, and each for different reasons, that it makes the correct answer "none".
And I don't mean that as a knock on any players. It's more a statement to such a rich history of LSU baseball.
instead of statues, do something like the Yankees have with Monument Park.
Except put it outside around near Skip's statue. And you don't have to retire all those numbers like the Yankees do, just plaques fr the all-time greats.

Morris with the famous Hawthorne quote on the plaque "way back there, way back there ... HOME RUN!! Tigers Win!! Tigers Win!! I dont believe it!!"
Put a motion activated speaker so that the call plays when you walk by.

I'd say Ben McDonald for a player and obviously Skip Bertman for a coach.

Another vote for Todd Walker
Posted on 1/11/23 at 2:29 pm to ccox11

He's without a doubt the most accomplished player in program history in terms of statistics, records, awards, and team success combined.
Eh, mainly because he stayed 4 years whereas most of our best players in program history haven't.
When Todd Walker finished his 3 years at LSU, he was the SEC's all-time leader in hits, RBIs, runs scored, and total bases.
And here are his superlatives:
1992
National Freshman of the Year
1st team Freshman AA
2nd team AA
1st team All-SEC
1993
1st team AA
1st team All-SEC
Golden Spikes finalist
CWS MOP
SEC POY
1994
1st team AA
1st team All-SEC
Golden Spikes finalist
CWS all tournament team
He owned pretty much every batting statistical record in program history when he was done playing.
Through his first 3 years, Furniss had a lower career BA, fewer RBIs, fewer hits, fewer 2Bs, and an equal number of HRs

Hmmm? So far, our statue athletes have excelled outside of just LSU. I would think it would certainly be someone who won a natty (or helped build the foundation) and excelled well beyond LSU.
So many to choose from but I kind of lean McDonald. Baseball is too difficult just yet.

Morris as he rounds first base is the obvious answer

Basing it off history-Morris
Basing it off sentiment-pontiff
Basing it off baseball - Walker
Basing it off pure sex appeal-Zinsman

I didnt really follow LSU baseball much when Walker was playing. Damn I wish I could have watched that live. I started around gorilla ball time and that hooked me right away

Seems like Alvin Dark was maybe the first great baseball player, but way before my time. Anybody have insights into him?

Morris doesn't deserve a statue for one monumental HR.
Walk-off HR to win the College World Series. It doesn’t get more historic than that. Should be positioned outside the Box as you walk in.
Imagine the Bluegrass Miracle as a last second play to win the National Championship, or Howard Carter hitting a buzzer beater to win the NCAA Tournament … those would be in the same vein and would be worthy of a statue.

Only one: Warren Morris being carried off of the field after slamming the National championship winning home run against Miami.
Warren Freakin' Morris.
Warren Freakin' Morris.

I mean… I get where you’re at but come on man - that’s the single greatest moment in college baseball history you have to start with that

Massive 2009 dogpile statue and find a way to make Leon Landry hover right over the top

Actually this is my #2!
Morris outside the stadium, then do a HOF circle like NY Yankees and have this be the centerfold of that experience. And YES have Leon in mid-air leap, easy to do with wires from ceiling or even hiding his pillar as part of his knees and only visible from the back.
