I like both and hope they both stick around for the competition.
One of the bright spots for Max last night was that he made some great throws with a defender in his face, knowing he was about to get pummeled.

We have talent at the position and a system that allows them to showcase that talent. Brennan is and should be the starter. I hope he’s continued to work. He’s got next year to ball out and then head to the Show. And he has the talent, smarts, and arm to do that. Glad he has young talent behind him. Nuss should add to that.

Max is able to process the full field effectively and therefore has a more consistent positive result
He’s also mobile
He throws, by a mile, a more catchable ball
His command under pressure is far superior
Because he sees the whole field. He produces less turnovers
Max is the better QB and it’s it’s really not close
That kid is a baller ! You don’t stroll out there in the Swamp and take the win from the Heisman leader late in the season if you’re not an alpha.
I’m not crowning him king but I’m stating: Max Johnson is our best QB available and probably has the highest ceiling of any on the team
That kid is going to be 230+ next season
Big boy with touch and mobility
Max Johnson ! the name says it all

I didn’t get to watch - did Max play entire game?

And this season shows that most seasons you will need at least two QBs.
If you stick around I think history shows your time will come where you’ll get meaningful opportunities.
Hope they both stay.

We're lucky to have them both and will be able to build on their talents. I agree with you on Max -- he talks ball. I see some Joe Burrow in this kid.

They’re both great talents. What it comes down to for me is that Johnson is a “gamer”. I hate the use the cliche but I’m not sure how else to put it. He’s the type that puts in so much effort into every play. It’s not necessarily a big arm or a crazy speed but he can will a team to a win. That plays well in the college game.

I like both Max and TJ’s toughness. Both dudes have taken some big hits and gotten up and continued to fight. Max had two hits last night that I know he’s feeling this morning. That one on the sideline where he tried to stretch out for the first down was brutal.

I think both have been good and inconsistent. They've also kind of been what we (I) thought they would be. Finley has the size and throwing ability OC's dream of. He can just effortlessly zip passes in the small windows. No matter what the defense does, you can't stop a perfect throw. He opens up all areas of the field. The negative, his mechanics are inconsistent and he has to develop the cerebral/decision making part of the game.
That's where Johnson has an edge. Athletically, nothing really stands out for Johnson. He can run better than Finely, but I wouldn't say that is a "strength." He's not a running threat...even on the level of Burrow (who no one would say was a "running" QB ala guys like Vick, Hurts, etc). He has an average to below average arm (right now). What separates him though is his understanding of the game. He was seeing the blitzes, coverages, and though he wasn't perfect, really had control of the game. It's clear he's had good training from his ex-NFL QB father.
Going into the offseason the question will be can each strengthen their weaknesses? Finley has to work on his mechanics and in the film room. If so, he could be a really good QB. Johnson has to get bigger, stronger, faster. A full off-season in the workout program will help.

Yeah QB is finally not a problem for the foreseeable future.
Fact of the matter is that I never expected Finley to even factor into the starting QB race because he had Johnson in his class, Brennan was ahead of him, and Nuss and Howard were in the next 2 classes. He impressed me by even winning the starting job to begin with. Now I will say this, Bama and TAMU both have way better defenses than UF, so I wouldn't say Johnson is a runaway favorite after Brennan anymore. It's going to be a four way dogfight in 2022 to replace Brennan (who I think returns and starts next year).

Max had a quality win and deserves the start again next week

Miles Brennan has 2 years of eligibility right?

I also like Max's toughness - gets clobbered sometimes and bounces up.
So does TJ. Finley did great as long as we had a running game to open the passing attack. Same with Max. There are very few things either freshman can do, and coaches figure that out. Max has film now. Ole Miss is going to look at that film and game plan to make Max beat them doing things that are uncomfortable. If Max does it when the running game isn’t there, then I’ll feel that he’s the likely winner.
Ultimately, the one who maves forward and has the better LSU career is the one who advances the most this offseason and next August.

Some of that can be attributed to Max getting rid of the ball and stepping around pocket.

Last night proved that Max is the more polished QB than TJ. TJ is still a young QB that is just playing on natural ability. You can see with Max that he grew up with a dad that was NFL QB. He looks more refined and has good feet in the pocket, looks like he sees the field different. I like all 3 qb's, I just hope we can get a next level scheme to maximize the talent of these quarterbacks.
