He is a far better human being than Saban.
CLM has flaws, especially game day, but if I had a super talented player as a son, playing ANY position but QB, I would want him to play for Les.

think Miles had done more than fall arse backwards into a nat. title
Most 11 win seasons since 05 in the SEC.
Most Top 8 national finishes in the SEC since 05.
Most SEC West titles since 05.
Most SEC titles since 05.
Most wins among BCS programs since 05.
Most SEC wins since 05.
I could go on, but the Miles record of 1st and best in LSU history is too long and well known by all but some retards.

Overall,he seems to be a great guy who is very loyal to his players,in this regard he's far superior to Saban. He'll be in the discussion for best ever at LSU,but I think he has always underachieved for the most part
If you dislike him for whatever reason, whether it's he's too nice/laidback/passive, that's fine. But don't pretend that your opinion of him has to do with the results.
If you're mad at him because he doesn't have the image of unquestioned authority and a total control freak that Saban has, that's fine. But it's real disingenious to pretend that it's all about results/performance.

Imo he will never be out if sabans shadow. There are some real crazy people down here. If he never wins another, which wont happen, he will still be better than thousands of head coaches and former head coaches. Still the best coach LSU has had.

Do you think that Spurrier has underachieved?

nice guy.
must have been a great team mate on Michigan and his Ohio high school team.
He seems to be a decent person. He won a natty. Hey.
I am happy with him. LSU is #1. They were #1 last year.
Hey. they are really good and can win any game. Any team can be beat. I dont have fairy tale expectations.
I was sorely disappointed in the Ole Miss game, both the play calling and clock management. The UTk game is still the weirdest game I have ever seen.
Gosh. He is a success on many levels, but leaves something to be desired, here and there. So be it. I have compassion and appreciation. He could win it all again this time.
Someone did a strength of schedule thread, and LSU's opponents include the 2nd highest strength of schedule counting top 25 opponents only.
It would be a tough chore to get past #2, #9, #10, maybe #6 in the SEC champ game, and two other ranked teams in conference play.
He is my favorite coach all time. And by the way, I saw him blow the lead vs Tex when he was at Ok State, and I was disappointed that LSU got him. I thought, he is not ready for success.
I thought he must not be ready for the big time.
He was ready, barely.
I think he's more ready now.

They have a pretty good shot at winning it this year, so it really doesn't matter what his legacy is. What is important is having a sucessfull season this season.

Too early to say- he's not done yet! But if he never won another national championship I'd say his legacy would be: Drew the good mounts but couldn't complete the ride!

Why is this thread 7 pages long? Don't feed the troll

Spurrier
He needs to thank The Ohio State University for beating ASU in the Rose Bowl. If not for ASU losing, UF would have 0 NC's under Spurrier.
ETA: before we say Miles was lucky in 2007, it just goes to show you that a lot of NC's are won by luck of the draw.

He needs another NC to have a great legacy. To get out of Saban's shadow...duh- just beat him last game but he laid an egg mother goose would be proud of.

You ever stop and think about what you are REALLY saying when you say this? You are saying LSU never had a chance against ALA, you are saying they weren't good enough to beat ALA, you are saying Miles was destined to fail against Saban, You are actually saying LSU didn't belong in that NC game.
I wish people would think through this stuff. LSU lost to Bama, not ESPN.
