Pool party with friends. Whole pig on La caja china. I’m currently smoking veggies for a smoked jalapeño salsa.
I’m also gonna blacken 1/5 of my liver.

Shrimp & okra creole gumbo.

Prolly blasphemy around here, but my momma & MawMaw were New Orleans natives and both added tomatoes in with the okra because they favored creole, not cajun, gumbos from spring-fall.

Their chicken andouille gumbos never had tomatoes or okra and were hearty cold weather meals, but we ate seafood gumbo no matter the temps outside.

This sounds good. I'll probably try my hand at it soon.

Smash burgers and cold beer, hanging out around the pool.

Bunch of appetizers during the game.

Well, it depends where one will be. For those of going to the game, we'll have to see what the food/drink situation is in Allegiant Stadium.

Keeping simple. Doing a hot dog bar with loaded tater tots, little smokies, chips with homemade queso and homemade guacamole.

Fixings for dogs include usual condiments, homemade spicy honey chipotle mustard, bacon, grilled/raw onions, jalapeños, sweet jalapeño relish, pickled red onions, sauerkraut, cheese, and of course chile.

Assortment of beef franks, Johsnonville jalapeño cheddar, and Johnsonville brats.

My oldest grandson is 6 and this is the first year he has been really excited about watching football so I let him choose the meal PawPaw was cooking. He chose chilie dogs.

Salvadoran jalapeno cornbread

Gonna have to google that. Is it anything special or different than any other traditional jalapeño cornbread?
