What if Miles had hired Dave Aranda one year sooner?

When Les Miles hired Kevin Steele to replace John Chavis, he later admitted to having also interviewed Dave Aranda for the position but felt that since Aranda had never coached in the SEC, Steele was the safer choice. A year later, when Steele left, Miles never interviewed anyone - he just picked up the phone and called Dave Aranda - his runner-up from the previous search.

Had Miles hired Aranda instead of Steele in 2015 , does anyone still think - after starting 7-0 we still lose those 3-straight to Bama, Arky & Ole Miss and fall from #2 to unranked by the aTm game - the one that at the 11th hour saved Miles' job for one more season? We gave up 30, 31 and 38 points respectively in those 3 straight losses!

I think had Aranda been DC one year earlier, we don't lose those 3-straight, Les doesn't go from #2 (7-0) to unranked (7-3) in a month, the word "hot-seat" is never mentioned and Bobby Jindal stays focused on government business instead of athletics.

Thoughts?

Defense was never Miles' problem. He had to change his offensive philosophy to stay and he refused to do it.

Probably would've still lost the games but maybe wouldn't of given up that many points. Offense couldn't score either way.

Which one of those 3 losses do you think we win with Aranda?

Alabama dominated our offense
Arkansas shut us out

Maybe we win against Ole Miss

WE scored 16,14,17 in those 3 as well. I don't think it would have made any difference

LSU’s defense was soft. Couldn’t stop the run and get off the field. The offense floundered in those three weeks but the defense didn’t help them out any. Kevin Steele was a joke.

Steele is currently Auburn's DC. He seems to be doing okay over there.

I was a big miles supporter from 2005-2012/13’ish. His offense had gotten as stale as the bread used to make pain Perdue. Saban could have been our d coordinator and we would have trouble winning games. It was beyond time for him to go if he wasn’t going to change his philosophy.

He would have left. Les' Offense couldn't keep his defrnse off the field.

Same problem he had with Canada.

He was trash at LSU. And Auburn just committed another pass interference penalty.

BS. We still would not have had enough DTs. Aranda is not a miracle worker.
