In 2019 LSU got the ball to open the second half up 33-13.

What happens if they score a TD on that drive making it 40-13?

That game was not as close as the score indicated. I think if LSU scores on that drive, they win 54-34.

You can thank Saahdiq for deciding to take a smoke break instead of protecting Joe.

That scenario happened in multiple games - Texas, Bama, Clemson.

Teams could have been put away earlier with LSU getting the ball to open the 3rd quarters but our Tigers liked to add a little drama. It worked out.

Bama never had the ball in the second half with a chance to even tie, so I’m not sure how much it would have mattered.

Literally our only "flaw" on offense that season if you can call it that. Our 3rd quarters had to be our lowest scoring quarter per average

You know that onside kick had your heart racing. I was thinking HERE WE GO AGAIN. Just like 2012 and 2014. The other years they pushed our shite in

2012 and 2014, I was thinking about the earlier Texas game and I think someone else tried in 2019..maybe Florida? Either way. Not a good feeling.

Joe missed two wide open receivers on the first two drives of the second half. That was on the QB.

But if Charles hadn’t let McKinney get in his lap we were probably going to score in some way. Just looked back we were already at the Bama 36 and York was dialed in.

What if McMath didn’t facemask Waddle on the punt return? What if Stingley didn’t look to the sideline on the Bama trick play? What if Aranda wasn’t playing press man up double digits with a minute left?

LSU should have blown out Alabama, but didn’t. Oh well, still the greatest season cfb has ever seen.

It wasn’t as close as score indicated.
Anybody who watched knows we dominated this football game.

But they didn’t and the game was just as close as the final score. Just look at the stats….

That has to be one of the dumbest sayings in sports. The game is ALWAYS as close as the score indicates... because the score is what counts.

You know another game that was close on the scoreboard, but lopsided statistically? The Earthquake game, against Auburn. They dominated us all game, but misfired on drives. We WON, because of that.

Bama was damn close to pulling 2019 out, in what would have been a legendary comeback.

It would have been a psychological gut punch to Alabama as the game would have gone from 19-13 to 40-13 over a period where Alabama ran exactly ONE play. More than that though, it probably forces them to abandon the run more quickly than they wanted to.

Harris had 39 yards on 4 carries in the first half. In the second half LSU couldn't stop him both on the ground and through the air. Perhaps 40-13 makes Alabama a bit more predictable against a defense that (at that point in the season) wasn't great.

The score remaining within striking distance allowed Alabama to keep the running game as a big part of their attack...a running game that was VERY effective vs. LSU in the second half.

That’s what I was thinking at the time. “We score here, we break them.”

The most nervous I got all day was after that turnover.

We should've went for it on 4th and short instead of punting and we would've blown them out. Score doesn't reflect how bad we dominated them.

Have gotten to know a few people tied in well at bama after hunting there for a long time - one of the most diehard and dialed in said he didn’t care what the score was - he walked out of the stadium feeling like he just watched a 56-24 beat down - he still maintains that (2019 LSU) was the best team he has ever seen - in short he agrees with your premise without that td being scored
