Another year. Another team that can’t get over the hump. Very disappointing. This season is in the tank.
How do you know? What is the “hump” they haven’t gotten over yet moron? This season isn’t CLOSE to being over and they have only lost 5 fricking games ALL 5 without at least 1 key starter at guard

I do not know how some here define "elite program" when referring to LSUMBB.
Will Wade took over a program where we did not contend (read: finish in top 4 of SEC) in the SEC. He has built a program where we do annually contend. I still think we will finish in the top 4 of the SEC on March 5.
IMO, elite teams nationally get to the Sweet 16 most years. There are only 3-5 of these teams this century. LSU has NEVER been an elite program in MBB.

People get mad at people like you because you think you're knowledgable but you're in fact an idiot.

I mean sooner or later, his teams have to be consistently in the top10 or 15.
There isn't many, if any teams that fit this. Teams like UNC, Duke, Kentucky even struggle now to keep "Top 10"
quote:
Make big runs in March. I mean are we ok with just making the Dance or are we hoping to be a Villanova or North Carolina, Kansas type program.
We had been to like 4 tournaments in 20 years and we are about to go to 4 in a row...

Villanova
Have you seen what they've done? They have 5 losses already, scored 36...36!!!!! earlier this season. Lost by 20!!! at Creighton.
quote:
North Carolina
So we want to be North Carolina....basically irrelevant? They've been worthless for 3 years.
See what I mean? You say shite that is DUMB. And it's not your fault...most of your type act the same way. Clueless

Good grief Dan. You sound ignorant
What's ignorant about that? Do you think this team has any chance to make a legitimate run in the NCAAT? They can't score consistently in the half court. They don't trust each other so it's basically 1 on 1. Too many senseless offensive fouls and empty possessions.

No one wants to hear it but he’s kind of in a Les Miles phase. He did turn the program around but when you are on the bottom anyway is up. Like Les, brought in top recruits and athletes but never truly had consistency given the talent. Sure you may find a championship in there but the talent often carried acerage coaching.

well thats because basketball sucks. have you seen the dudes in the stands at a basketball game? typically 300 lbs+ or nerdy as hell.
Take this phag for example. He's busy scanning the stands for hot guys so his opinion on basketball is useless.

Reaction threads to reaction threads. Wade loyalists sure do get salty about posters who supposedly are stupid, don't know basketball, or have unrealistic expectations.
Also seem to never just be able to say the other team played better (much less the Tigers played poorly in any manner).
Finally, the narrative of turning the program around (which he did) and being a yearly SEC contender should include the context that he's also had 4 top 10 recruiting classes in his short tenure.
He definitely deserves credit for getting these kids to campus, but we can't keep being okay with "making the tournament" year after year.

Miles took over a program that had won a national championship 2 years prior, then won again a few years after taking over. Then played for it again 4 years later. Wtf kind of comparison is this?

This isn’t a reaction thread. This is us likely losing him to another team.
Here is what you don’t think about. People like you don’t appreciate what he is doing:
First 5 years
Dale Brown = 52%
Trent Johnson = 52%
John Brady = 54%
Johnny Jones = 56%
Other notable coaches
Scott Drew = 41%
Coach K = 56%
WILL WADE = 68%

Cool. Couple questions:
Which year should our expectations shift beyond "making the tournament" or being better than Johnny Jones? 3 more years? 5 more?
Why do you keep ignoring the level of talent he's had? You act like he's had walk-on tuba players.
People like me aren't ready to fire him BTW. We just aren't ready to call him elite like some are.
It's called being objective.

Being objective means you acknowledge we have had significant injuries in the games we’ve lost. We beat Alabama and Arkansas 100% with a healthy Pinson. Not even a question

I don’t think it’s a matter of what he’s done. I think it’s a matter of what he’s done relative to how some on this board portray him. If there was not a big contingency of WW sycophants on this board that defended him no matter what, I think the criticism would be a little more muted. However, When you insist to everyone that a person is one of the best coaches in the country (regardless of how their team performs), there is going to be backlash when their teams look unprepared or outcoached.
Perfect response.
Very reasoned and measured.
Wade is a great recruiter and he has turned the program around, no doubt.
But you guys worship him like a God and he hasn't shown a great ability to coach his players up. Same old issues going on 5 years now.

I would say a fair expectation would be to make a sweet 16 in the next 3 years and an elite 8 in the next 5.

Are you of the opinion that we are a storied basketball program with a history of making final 4s?
Some of y’all pretend we’re Duke.

We’re 16-5 with a very favorable February schedule..I think there should really not be a lot of worry.

I don’t know it was fricking 9 years for Brown.
Why won’t you address the reality of what he has done?
I LIVED THROUGH THOSE 9 years with Brown. You didn’t. You didn’t live through getting our asses beat to a FAR LESS talented Navy team with only Robinson in 85.

It’s really hard to figure out the hate for this year’s team. He rebuilt the roster after losing nearly all his offensive production and has put together a really good team - that when healthy is borderline top 10 - and he’s done so with guys in the portal that were not highly sought after (except Miller who is injured). The fact that this team is 16-5 is one of the best coaching jobs in college basketball this season.
All this.
