Ole Miss had a spy blocker tracking Perkins.

So now there are fans pissing on Baker, only at LSU.

Stop talking about Ole Miss. Happened two weeks ago. Time for South Carolina, they can't make the same mistakes and need to have better gap integrity and not allow the defense to outflank them based on formation or motion.

My guess is that the Ole Miss QB was good enough in the pocket that we couldn’t afford to remove a man from coverage to spy on him.

He was on the milk carton again… sad what they have done to him.

Make him throw, keep him contained with Perk, and less blitzing

You can’t have a spy every play. You do that and they’ll take advantage of it. The spy leaves a liability somewhere. Kind of like how rushing three should leave a liability.

EXACTLY! 3rd and long is perfect time to "spy" on a running QB. Not once the entire game was Perk in position to do that like he was against Clemson. The last defensive play against Clemson to seal the game was a prime example. I realize the game against Ole Miss is over but this is 1 of the main reasons our defense could not get off the field. We did NOT have that problem against Clemson. Let's not repeat same mistake against South Carolina. Let it happen.

The best part is the vast majority of them have literally no idea what they're even talking about.

agreed. Perkins has to be used just like LSU used Honey Badger. there is no reason whatsoever that Perkins can't have the same impact as the HB. Can you even imagine HB only making 2 tackles in an entire game? No, me neither. LSU has to really work hard to make him that irrelevant in a critical game....but we did, and probably will again. A shame.

This is a terrible comparison. A generational player with a guy who is an elite OLB in an era where that position barely exists. To Perkins’ credit, he has improved his pass coverage and tackling to be good enough to be an every down player, but Honey Badger was elite as a disruptor va the pass or run and a ball hawk as a Safety from day fricking one. Perkins has never been and will never be all of that.

Perkins may not be a liability in coverage, but we all know it isn’t his strength. HB was just as elite in the backend as he was lined up to blitz the QB or attack the ball. Perkins just doesn’t have that level of versatility across the field and can’t be used exactly the same way.
