Stevens and Delpit play a hybrid safety/lb anyway at times. Jacoby is slightly undersized for a lb but he's one of our best tacklers

Calling Chaisson an OLB for simplicity’s sake...
Chaisson has developed into a great linebacker. This guy is dropping into coverage and doing a great job in both run and pass defense.

Chiasson is a dangerous weapon roaming the midfield.

Divinity has not been a standout player for us, bottom line. Solid, but not one of our defensive stars. I'd be more upset if we lost Queen or Jacoby.

We need the LB that can drop and make the slants and crossing routes hear footsteps, like Beckwith used to do
And that will matter more if our secondary is forced to play cushion.
I do not expect our DL to provide pressure, so I guess what I’m saying is that our scheme better be on point. Mixing man and zone.
I don’t think LB personnel really ranks high enough on the list of our concerns to mention.

He has 45lbs on Brooks, for example.
Whoa, I didn't even realize Brooks was listed at 195. He seems bigger, honestly. He looks bigger than Delpit, who is listed at 205 or so.

BINGO! Haven't seen anyone mention this yet when discussing our defense vs Bama on O. We need to have our Ends/OLB drop when their cues tell them slant on their side. This will likely result in a pick or two if not just disrupt the timing. With Delpit roaming near the LOS at times he could also drop into a zone.
I have seen Saban coached defenses do it quite a lot, it works.

I get what your saying but he’s actually pretty dang slow

Not having Todd Harris makes it a little more difficult. If we had him healthy we could just move Jacoby down into the box predominantly with Harris and Delpit at safety. We should be fine though. Divinity experience and pass rushing will be missed but we should be able to stay afloat with Clark, Brooks, Anthony, etc stepping in.
we could move Vincent to safety, move Fulton to Nickel and put either ward or Flott at the corner slot. That would allow Jacoby to play near the LOS.

Maybe Moore or Cherry could step up and earn their scholarships. I wonder how long Aranda has known about Divinity, though. Surely he knew this was a possibility and has had a contingency plan. We’ll see. Should be interesting.,

Or bring Monroe or Hampton in at safety and drop Jacoby down to play in the box and on the edge.

I agree using Clark at OLB. Not only does he have the size to hold up on 3 downs. He has a tremendous amount of closing speed/athleticism and you can drop him and send Queen/Phillips too
I don’t like Marcel in this spot unless it’s obvious passing downs

THIS is what a thread is supposed to look like.

Honestly, and I'm not saying this because he's no longer on the team, but Divinity hasn't looked very good this year, to me. I'd hear comments from broadcasters who'd say something after he made a tackle like "Divinity is such a difference maker for this team" and I got the impression that they were only assuming that because of how he played last year.
Because, this year, I haven't seen him do much other than make standard tackles, as opposed to flying around, making tackles for loss, getting to the QB, or breaking up passes. I just haven't seen impact plays from him. So I'm not sure how much this effects our defense. If I had a way to know that he'd return to his old form at some point this year, I'd say this is a huge loss. But I'm more disappointed that things turned out this way, than I am nervous about losing his production.
And I'm not necessarily disappointed in him, but just disappointed in general. Because I'm not so sure about the weed rumor. He wasn't kicked off the team; he left.
