A new ATHLEIC DIRECTOR who has LSU's interest at heart!!!

Who does Alleva have at heart if not Lsu?

Forget it, he's rolling...

I was asking over on the SECR, and it looks like it would take around $60 million for LSU to build a comparable natatorium to what both Mizzou and UGA have...
Mizzou
UGA
...so it looks like any potential replacement of our antiquated swimming facility would have to be the featured project in an upcoming round of TAF facility improvements. Similar to how the SEZ addition was for this round.
I was afraid of that. I was hoping for a cheaper price tag.
Mizzou

Pool is part of a large rec center that was built in 2005, so hard to break out just the pool, but the whole thing was $63mm
UGA

Opened: 1995
Cost: $40 Million
Size: 430,000 sq feet

I think a renovation of the TS dorm rooms so people could stay in them the night before and the night of the games. Lsu could make some serious $$$$$$$ doing this enough to help out with other athletic renovations on campus.

They're about to break ground on LSU's new rec center soon, maybe they'll place it in there. Doubt it though

That would be the most logical place. It's where both Mizzou and UGA placed theirs.
Maybe LSU planned the new UREC with that eventuality in mind?

possibly, I haven't heard. It's going to be huge.

Very excited to see that. I don't know if there would be space for a new swimming facility to be built along-side that, but it would be great if there was room.

Also in the needs area should be a replacement for men's tennis coach. Haven't been very competitive
Coaches attract the recruits, recruits (and coaches) bring success, success brings improved facility. The big lie is that we can't attract recruits without better facilities. You can't put the cart before the horse. It would cost us much much less to bring in the best coaches, and worry about the facility once we have success.

Well, we are building a new tennis facility already....

A new tennis facility serves the second development funded by TAF. Located south of Alex Box Stadium and adjacent to AgCenter LaHouse, the $8.5 million, 73,000 square foot building will boast six indoor courts and 12 outdoor courts when complete. The design meets NCAA regulations for nighttime and televised play on ESPN. “Tiger Athletics visited peer institutions and used specialty design consultants for this championship play arena,” David said. Construction on the project will begin in May, David said.
New athletic facilities in progress
...so there's that, at least.

Television money is a win win. In other words, facility improvements are an investment that make money in the long run.

A twenty thousand car parking garage.

Whatever we build, I'm sure LSU will frick up the architecture. The Cox Center is excellent, if you can get past the fact that we put the name of a fricking cable provider on the building.

An indoor track with banked turns and new track coach. We've been on downward trend.
