well, I mean. There's plenty of schools in the top 25 that get games like this almost every Saturday during the football season. Look at Indiana.....They're ranked number 6 with a schedule like this....
North Texas (LOL)
Howard (LOL)
WKU (LOL)
Northwester (almost lost lol)
Rutgers (LOL)
Nebraska (LOL)
Ohio state (actually a challenge finally)
Michigan (Challenge?)
Minnesota (LOL)
USC (trash)
Washington (LOL)
Purdue (LOL)
Can you imagine if this was LSU schedule. LSU wouldn't have had to break out their starters until week 6 or 7. LSU getting to play teams like McNeese give us a well needed rest that the guys deserve. Most teams get to have games like this for the first 6 or 7 weeks of the season. While the SEC beats the tar out of each other and comes out with a slew of injuries. People can say what they want about the SEC's heyday being over. Yeah they've shite the bed with natties lately. But that still doesn't change that the SEC beats the dogshit out of each other all season while the others get to cake walk to the end of the year. The other teams get to play beaten down SEC teams by the time of the playoffs.

You wanna give this team another game to run our first string to death and possibly get more injuries? Sure lets just remove one of the only easier games they've got and stick Georgia or Florida in there as if LSU doesn't have Bama, Texas, Tennessee in November. You're a moron.

I understand that "all" good teams schedule cupcakes like this. That is part of the larger problem. These games should not be played at all . Would it be ok if the Saints played the Beaumont Renegades in Mid-December? Of course not. FBS and FCS should not be playing regular season games that count toward actual records. Other than a payout, there is no reason. I thought we all wanted more quality games ? Outside of a few marquee matchups, the NCAA schedule through 4 weeks has been abysmal. Everyone can lie to themselves and say their team needs these games, but that's just not the case.

Personally id like to see the first 2 or 3 games be the cupcake warmup for everyone. Get the small.schools their payday at a time they might pull a shocking upset. Then get on with the real schedule

The nuance youre leaving out is that there are alot of "FBS" teams that pretty much are the equivalent of high end "FCS" teams.
Yeah Indiana gets to say they played a bunch of "FBS" teams. But lets be honest. It aint much different than LSU playing McNeese

To play better competition requires home and home series. We want home games. We can’t get Rice to come here without a home and home. So these are the schools that will do it for a nice payday. And it keeps the money in state

In case you haven't noticed, LSU could use a breather this weekend. Significant players dropping like flies. It's not the same game week excitement as an SEC series. But you need a couple of these + the bye during the year to heal up, get fresh legs, and let some guys develop. You might even identify somebody that can really help you this season that you weren't even thinking about before all the injuries. Just take it for what it is.
