We were winning at half with the only thing keeping us in the game was defense. When you have an inept offense, the defense can only keep you in it for so long.

What did Miami do that we need to incorporate into our gameplans?
They shut down the run and were athletic enough to keep Reed in the pocket. He's a completely different QB from the pocket.
The game just isn't as easy as you pretend. Knowing keeping Reed in the pocket is one thing. Stopping that A&M run game is one thing.
Being able to do those things is another.

Wut
Who’s acting like it’s easy or simple to do it? Blake Baker is a fantastic defensive coordinator, and I feel that he can still learn a lot from other defensive staffs such as Miami’s.
Nothing about that sounds simple or easy.

Get good defensive linemen that can collapse the pocket without blitzing

How to stop a running QB. So far he hasn't been able to do that

What I saw was an amazing difference in the ability to rush and pressure the qb from the interior dline, but mostly from the DE position, which dominated. Our DE's just never quite get to the QB, and very often do not set an 'edge' to keep the QB inside where they have help. We need major upgrade on the Dline and especially pass rushing DEs. LSU only success pressuring the QB all season was from blitzing LB's which left a huge opening if unsuccessful.
I hope BB takes a long look at the Miami/A&M game film and adopts as much as possible of their technique and schemes. I have confidence in BB to handle it correctly. Get the horses first and go from there.

They loaded the box and ran a 3 shell defense. That's Reed's cryptonite. Their front 7 is pretty good.

Definitely, Miami’s Dline is something special to watch

Miami held the ball just over 26 minutes, ran 49 plays, and was 3-12 on 3rd down conversions. Their defense was on the field almost 34 minutes, and A&M ran 75 plays.
Miami's defense didn't give a frick, they held A&M to 3 points. There was no "oh, they got tired and wore down", they finished the game.

It never has been or never will be Bakers problem when it comes to his fan boy’s on this board.
