re: What are your thoughts on loser mentality fans who assume LSU will lose the first game?

Sorry but not sorry. I’ve gone all out on a kickoff game party the past 5 years. I’m saving that energy for game 2 this year. Gonna watch game 1 with a loss being assumed, and a win is a welcome surprise.
A fan can’t control anything so our mentality doesn’t matter. The team controls how they play, and we just live with their results.

And then beyond Clemson, we open the next season vs. Clemson again then maybe Houston in Houston. And Arizona State, another playoff team, is on the early schedules.

It's not blind negativity. It's a trend.
Year 1 - New coaching staff and new QB.
Year 2 - Played a team that went 13-0 before losing their starting QB.
Year 3 - New coordinators on both sides of the ball and new QB.
It’s only a trend if you ignore the other factors playing into the results.

Clemson has lost their last 2 season openers 34-3 and 28-7 and 3 of their last 4. They’ve been even worse.

Not sure about you but I think we beat the shite out of Purdue Fort Wayne.

LSU hasn't won the opening game since 2019.
How is it "loser mentality" to assume a loss if it is against a quality P5 opponent?
I mean, if we were playing McNeese, it would be "loser mentality" to assume that would be a loss.
Hint: We're not opening the season against McNeese.

Let's go back to when LSUs losing streak started. 0-5 is worse than 2-3 especially when you take into account that 2 of their losses came against UGA who were the national camps in 21-22 and a playoff team this past year.
Meanwhile, LSU just lost to a USCw team that finished the regular season 6-6.

Clemson lost to UGA week 1 last year & still made the playoff
That’s easier done when you play in the ACC though. We lose week 1 and it’s an uphill battle from there. Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, Auburn, A&M, etc.

History will do that. When they finally win the first game attitudes will change,

Cut the BS excuses... USC was dealing with the same exact circumstances. New QB & New DC. BK had no business losing that game.

Also know that this place will be a wildfire if we lose to Clemson.
But if we win...

I’ve lost money betting on the Tigers in week 1 four years in a row. I think this is the year we should get a win, but I’m not betting on it.

Who gives a shite, just make the Series

Why would we go back to a prior coaching staff? The last 2 years Clemson has done worse than LSU in season openers. The 28-7 loss last year was to Duke. If you’re going to try to say there is a trend for LSU, there is a worse trend for Clemson.

Clemson also won their conference championship game and made the playoff.
BK's record against teams of this caliber is very....
Well, you know.

Exactly
These people in this thread don’t want to look at the details and nuanced arguments.
They just want to look at 2020-2024 and say “waaaaaaaaa!!!, why do we keep losing the first game?!?! I guess we’ll keep losing the first game forever…Durrrrrrrr……”
And they totally ignore all the factors that go into winning and losing such as roster makeup and coaching staff continuity. All signs are pointing to LSU trending upward significantly, but these people can’t see the forest for the trees. They see an opening loss for the last few years and assume it will continue. It’s because they are mental midgets.
