He won 1 and there is hundreds that have not. Lets be thankful and give him his due

we all give him his due for 2019. But it now seems that 2019 was just an aberration.

I mean, Gene Chizik and Larry Coker also won NCs, and they've been proven to be poor head coaches.

Just because a guy wins a championship doesn't necessarily mean he's a great coach. Some things just happen to fall into place at the right time. Just like it did for O in 2019.

No man, Just seeing all the things that had to go right for O to win a championship Makes me appreciate it even more. I just "knew" Bama was going to claw back in it and break my heart again...

OK, my apologies, most of these posts ae setups.

By the way. the same things can apply to most national champions. For instance look how close Bama came to losing to LSU in 2008, 2012 and 2014. A play or two here and there and Saban has fewer rings.

Yeah, Ed was a fairytale story that, sadly, ended with a crash and burn.

That said, he assembled the greatest team of all time and deserves considerable respect for that.

You are missing one key thing (assuming you mean as a head coach). What program capable of winning a NC would hire him as their HC?

Joe Alleva was possibly the only human being dumb enough to hire him as a head coach with his resume.

and if he had even the slightest clue as to how he did that, he would have done it again.

Hell he’s probably 1000 to one to ever head coach again at all on any level.

He’s not done winning.

He’s done.

Zero odds as a HC. There is not a big school anywhere that wants him as their HC with all of his baggage. He could possibly get on somewhere as an assistant and earn one in that capacity. However I doubt that any major institution with a half decent AD would even consider him for a HC position.
