What are the chances we see Longstreet in non garbage time this year?

Just a thought as he’s going to have more time meshing with the receivers this offseason and it’s possible Lane puts some packages in for him.

None unless Leavitt gets hurt. Live reps are too valuable to give them to Longstreet outside of clean-up duty.

I’m not sure why you are getting downvoted. Why would lane put in packages for Longstreet? This post makes no sense.

Last season Lane had Simmons play in 8 games, throwing for 744 yards, 75 attempts and 4TD’s.
Thats a bunch by a backup QB.

If we do, it probably means bad things for Leavitt and probably for LSU as well. Not absolutely for LSU, but probably.

Simmons started the season as the starter in the first two games. After game two vs Kentucky, he threw 3 passes vs SEC teams.
He threw 55 passes for 576 yards and 3 TDs as a starter vs Georgia State (3 TDS, 2 Ints) and Kentucky (0 TDs 2 Ints). And another 12 passes, 100 yards, with 0 TDs and 1 int vs the Citadel in garbage time.
As a backup, Simmons had 20 passes for 168 yards with 1 TD and 1 Int in garbage time for all but part of one series vs Arkansas. Chambliss got the start in game 3 because Simmons did really look good vs Kentucky, even though they won.
ETA, he only appeared in the box score in 6 games.

I think the chances are extremely high.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he came in a came at least once to run a situational type play designed just for him. Or if QBs helmet comes off then he might have to go take a snap or most likely he might be the FG holder.

This is an odd comment. If Sam Levitt has to play every down, that means we’re in trouble late in games - even against inferior opponents. It also means that the potential for him to get hurt is much, much higher. So of course, we’re going to see the backup quarterback in many games this year, especially against smaller teams. Levitt does not need “practice“ he’s played plenty of football. He needs to stay healthy.
