What are the chances O made up the body hurting issue?

I just think it would be a total O move to pull something out of his arse and unintentionally pour gasoline on the fire. I mean I don’t think Gilbert has been particularly hard or soft but something like this will do some serious damage to his reputation, as well as making the program look bad. Any possibility that was just another O PR blunder?

Made up or not, he was stupid to bring it up at all. If the kid didn't publicly state it, he has no business stating it as a reason.

I would put it at 50/50. Not because he wanted to make him sound bad, but probably because he wanted to provide some kind of cover for the kid and didn’t have any idea it would have the opposite effect.

Gilbert is quitting on this team in the middle of the season. The reasoning was coming out regardless. Unfortunately for him when you sit out or quit the narrative is set.

I’m with ya there I can see him saying I’m homesick because he’s frustrated but not my body hurts and him wanting the ball more. We all know Coach O has overstated a lot this year. He needs to drop the young chic stop riding on last year and get tough again.
