I’ll make simple for ya. Every time someone criticizes Ed O they do not need to draw some comparison to Les Miles. Just because someone criticizes Ed O doesn’t mean they didn’t criticize Les Miles for similar situations in the past. Les Miles career is over so we can look at it with a different perspective than the here and now. As Ed Os career unfolds how we judge him will also change depending on how he does.

That’s not what I said I said it’s not the best guide necessarily to determine which teams a coach should or shouldn’t have beaten. Things change as the season unfolds. Florida is a prime example of what i mean. They opened as a slight favorite over LSU but by game time the line was 1.5, if the game was played this week LSU would probably be a 14 point favorite.
We were discussing Os record and I’ve said he beat the teams he should and loses to the better ones. You keep saying he’s 4-2 as an underdog, though you haven’t backed that up. Anyway even the line vs Fla remained Fla -2, since we now know that Florida is a bad team it doesn’t count as a quality win.

Vegas is worried about this weeks game what I was talking about was judging a coaches record. I don’t care who Vegas has favored when we look back. Florida this year is a bad team, no one realized that early but that’s how the season played out.

In the polls you get instant credit and it doesn't really matter what happens to that team afterwards.
I don't think beating a #3 team in week 3 that finishes 7-5 and unranked at the end of the season carries as much weight as beating a #3 that goes on to win it's conference and is in the NC hunt.
It's not rocket science.

Go check out the SEC in 2007, it was horrible. Then go look at their schedules. They barely got over .500 and most had 3 cupcake OCC games. Does that mean LSU sucked that year? If you want to say that LSU was poorly coached because of the Miss. St. And Troy games, then you have some valid points to be made. If your using opponents records to indicate poor coaching on the team that beat them, well it doesn't make sense.

You are right, that wouldn’t make sense. Contrary to popular narrative I’m not looking at the strength of opponents to discredit O or say he’s doing a bad job. When discussing his qualifications supporters point to his interim record at USC and LSU to show he’s learned from his time at Ole Miss. But if you look deeper he beat mostly bad teams. He has what I’d consider 2 quality wins at USC and LSU. Stanford at SC and Auburn this year. So if the point of firing Miles was to get back to elite status it’s a legitimate question to ask if Ed O is the guy to get us there and looking at his record is a fair way to assess that. To get there he’s going to have to beat some good teams and so far he really hasn’t

This is spot on, I don't think anyone believes right he will 100% make us elite. The team has made improvements since the losses, we have beaten these down opponents handily, unlike in years past. But yes it doesn't prove much as far as if he has truly learned, also it doesn't prove he hasn't. As anyone can see LSU regardless of the oppenent has looked well coached since Troy.
