We’ve lost two five star players in two years

Marcel Brooks and now Gilbert. Add to that the remarkable number of opt outs this year, and it appears that Orgeron better start focusing more attention on maintenance recruiting. Perhaps have player sponsors who keep better tabs on growing dissatisfaction.

Both had a lot of playing time too.
Honestly don’t think Marcel has everything together mentally. I mean that in the best way, he needs help.
Arik is just a groupie from the natty

I thought brooks wanted back in?

What we really need are more old school parents that raise their kids to take their time making a decision and stick it out once they've made it.

The Fact that Gilbert may go to Tennessee should tell you everything about him and the people giving him counsel.

These dudes cant complain about lack of play time. Sometimes you just have quitters

That's actually not that bad. When you recruit those top level players they often come with huge egos and the first time something doesn't go their way, they jump ship. Alabama has had so many 5 star guys leave over the years, you could probably make a very good college team if you got them together. It's the nature of college football, just look at the transfer portal if you don't believe me.

Two completely different situations
What ed o needs to do is focus more on louisiana, florida, and texas.
Some georgia. Grab a player like ricks from cali but stick to your roots.

Not all five stars work out bro...just a higher percentage of them...If Arik doesn't actually learn from any of this he will not be successful any where in football or life in general...

I’d be really curious to see some data on attrition for various programs. It certainly feels like LSU’s attrition (and I’m not talking about NFL early entrants) is really bad. But it’s hard to gauge whether it’s us, or just college football as a whole. I might try to put something together and flesh it out.

And yet the program is still here and doing just fine.
Normalize not hyping up 5 star players

One less arse that thinks it needs kissing all the time.

A few players will not make or break this program. I think coaching does.

Or a player like Gilbert from Georgia? Brooks from Texas?

Wrong. You get the best possible talent regardless of location.

Happens everywhere. Clemson and Alabama each lost one
