I thought he was very underwhelming as a pitching coach this year.

I’ve been saying this all year. The staff was good during this regional, but has been up and down all season. Wes Johnson’s reputation certainly didn’t match the results this year. I trust Jay much like I trust Brian Kelly to always hire top notch assistants.

You do realize he's had vastly more experience as a college coach than a pro right? I know what Wes is good at. Players like him...he has a world-class throwing program and his analytics are top-shelf. His pitch-calling has been suspect this year, but that's not all this is.

My guess is Wes was given full autonomy of the pitching staff. Then at a certain point when things were not going well, Jay got involved. Wes being who he is, didn’t like that too much.

cool. I'm just saying, as a former pitcher, what it looked like the kids were trying to do out there for most of the year. I'm glad you know Wes. Congrats. You probably won't be able to have an objective discussion. I'm done.

I love the Kendall Rogers tweet just now

"UGA was unwilling to play premium dollar for a head coach... limited options to assistant coaches or mid major head coaches"

Enjoy the island of irrelevancy in baseball UGA

Sounds like the only thing Georgia will invest in is football. They suck everywhere else.

Why the hell does it matter? Lol
JJ was going to tell the team tomorrow. Makes no difference at this point.

It's no different than a guy like Saban. If you are good enough as a coach, you become the king-maker. If Jay keeps winning, he may replace a lot of assistants and be just fine. People don't go coach with Saban to enjoy his company. They go to improve their brand and leave. This just wasn't what happened in this particular.

I don’t think you can put the arm injuries on Wes with the numbers you see nationally either.

It’s hard for me to put arm injuries on a coach. But I will say this; Wes was at Mississippi State and their arms fell apart, then he was at Arkansas and their arms fell apart, then he was at LSU and their arms fell apart. At some point you have to wonder.

Well that's a better way to put it from you.

I still don't think it's comparable in terms of getting along, but I do believe people see Jay and LSU as an opportunity to become a head coach.

I would've never commented on this whole topic if I didn't know Wes has never tried to get an HC job, which he could have. I'm saying he's not going to UGA to be HC because this has been a life-long aspiration. I know it's hard to believe but not everyone does things for money and position.

Thank God!

The worst pitching coach in LSU history.

This was akin to the second stint with Bo Pelini as DC.

It was THAT bad.

By all accounts he’s actually an outstanding human being, regardless of anyone’s opinion of him as a coach.

We know nothing about how/why this was released.

Few head coaches worth their salt are east guys to coach under, I’d imagine.

They expect the same from the coaches as they do the players, perhaps moreso.

I’m not comparing JJ to Saban or Skip, but do you think they’re the easiest bosses to work under?

Calm down bro. This isn’t the end of the world. I promise the fat old fricks on the rant are much more concerned about this that the players are.

Were you not here for the end of the Alan Dunn era, a mere two years ago?
