Well JJ did call him "the best pitching coach on the planet" earlier in the season. I'm just saying, there's more to this story.

Definitely and I do think you don’t really know someone until y’all start working together. Especially the amount of hours these guys spend together

Haha except UGA athletic director came out say they will not pay top dollar for a coach hence why they had to go with at least their second option. Top option was Campbell’s coach and he turned them down.

You do realize he's had vastly more experience as a college coach than a pro right? I know what Wes is good at. Players like him...he has a world-class throwing program and his analytics are top-shelf. His pitch-calling has been suspect this year, but that's not all this is.

I think JJ is a really good coach but not convinced he's an easy guy to coach with.

I did find it kinda odd that he just left in the middle of the MLB season… I’m sure there is some behind the scenes that we won’t hear about.

Most of all… it’s BS he allowed this to get out in the middle of post season and unfair to the kids.

It's going to get masked by every assistant leaving for a HC job, but it's still a pattern.

If you hire great assistants don't you expect them to get promotions?

I don't see how this has anything to do with working together. Of course they are going to take head coaching jobs.

He might not be, but let’s look at where they went.

Jason Kelly- Washington assistant for many year, pac 12 job, no-brainer

Dan Fitzgerald- strictly a midwest guy, big 12 job, no brainer

Wes Johnson- sec job

It’s not like any of them were head scratching decisions.

Oh, I know. As long as the next landing spot is a HC job, he will still be able to hire top notch guys.

But it's going to catch up at some point.
