Well I think it is time to adjust thoughts for a season.

If I was a betting man at this point I would be betting we won’t have a full season. Right now locking in just a condensed season of just SEC games, because this is looking more dire everyday.

No way will LSU and UT not play.

ETA Assuming Ut has enough players to field a team at the rate they have people leaving that is.

NCAA just cleared everyone to play. Now I doubt the government gets in the way, but I guess it's possible.

I think you are delusional if you think this is a given.

Big 12 is adding games to schedules left and right. This game will be a huge ratings get. I can see ditching the other 3, but this one will played if at all possible.

i'm not sure why anyone would think there will be a season.

Because entire athletic departments will shut down if there isn't. Football is too important to the bottom line.

Did you not notice my post? the NCAA just cleared all FBS schools to play. Football is happening, maybe with empty stadiums. But the season is going to happen.

The NCAA issued a blanket waiver allowing all Football Bowl Subdivision Schools to begin playing the college football season as early as Aug. 29, a source tells 247Sports.

This statement could have a lot of meanings.

You seem to be interpreting this as "NCAA has given the green light for all teams to play."

But if you read it closely, this has nothing to do with the NCAA thinking that football programs seem to have their shite together and are ready to proceed in the face of COVID. This is meant to give teams an extra weekend in case they need some scheduling flexibility.

I've said it before here -- I think there's a season. But it's not going to look like we thought it was going to look earlier this year.

I'd rather play all SEC games (10) than play UTSA, Rice, Nicholls, and Texas and play 12.

I expect them to start the season but panic the first time the virus flares up in a way that could indicate team to team transmission. I'd make it less than 50-50 anyone is playing in Nov. But I really do want to be wrong.

Why does the title of the article you linked have LAu in it? Emmert is concerned with LSU?

Democrat ^^^^ :-)

But, seriously, the NFL has a protocol worked out. As long as the SEC schools have access to the same instant tests, and follow similar protocol, we good.

Test daily. Positive test, you quarantine that player for 10 days. Everyone else who was tested negative that morning is taking the effing field.

Not to mention this overplay of this virus has gone on long enough. Play ball.

As for the poster who put chance of November football at 50/50, I'd say November is the most likely month for all clear. It'll be post-election.

Obviously, it will be played if at all possible.

That's very different from what you said, originally.

No offense man, but the thought that this is done is faulty.

I'm hoping it happens.

There have been Zoom meetings w infectious disease experts and a rep from ea SEC school discussing testing of players, coaches, and staff.

Probably looking at 10 conference games and 1 OOC game, leaving 2 byes for any needed makeups

I expect each school to play an early OOC 2 weeks in front of conference schedule, so there would be time to quarantine prior to SEC play

The OOC games will likely be the one that makes the most TV revenue

The only way to approach this season is for the NCAA to say yes and let the teams prepare and schedule, when late August comes around then the decisions to actually play will be made. In my opinion everyone is going to wait and see and prepare to play, accept cancellation if it is handed down or play football.

Quit with the political bullshite.

There's a difference between WANTING a season, and EXPECTING to see one. I desperately want one, I'm probably 50/50 on whether it will be played.

I do think we'll see the start and a few games. Not sure we'll see the completion.
We've already seen MLB cancel a game, less than a full week into their season.
