I meant to do this earlier, but the last few days have been hectic. I'm a die-hard LSU fan, but go to school here and wanted to post a few restaurants around campus and the like that could be helpful for anyone from the Dallas area that doesn't come around SMU often or anyone coming in from out of town. (Obviously not expecting a bowl game like mass decent on the city)

Restaurants:

Bandito's (Mexican)
6615 Snider Plaza, University Park, TX 75205
Good, standard Tex-Mex just off campus in the Snider Plaza area. Good margaritas.

Burger House (Burgers)
6913 Hillcrest Ave, Dallas, TX 75205
Outstanding mom and pop type burger joint.

Cafe Brazil (Diner/Breakfast/2am)
6420 Ncentral Expy Dallas, TX 75206
Kind of hipster decorations. Chicken fried steak, eggs, etc.

Campisi's (Italian)
5610 E. Mockingbird Lane Dallas, TX 75026
Says the Egyptian Restaurant on the front (didn't change the sign in the 1940s when it changed over and it stuck) Locale of all the under the table dealings of the 1980s football program and the mob stuff for the city at large. Eric Dickerson mentions it in the 30 for 30.

Bars
SMU Boulevard itself has 3 bars that are maybe 5-10 minute walk from Moody

Milo's
5645 SMU Blvd, Dallas, TX 75206
Will scan and blacklight if that's an issue

Barley House
5612 SMU Blvd, Dallas, TX 75206
Probably the most popular SMU bar. Food is good as well.

Both Barley's and Milo's are essentially college bars, nothing ornate about them, but fun.

World of Beer
5600 SMU BLVD Dallas, TX 75206
16 page menu of craft beers. Abita and Dixie Beer present.

The young professional and older crowd will probably want to look to going out in Uptown.

Bush Library/ Campus
I would imagine many of you would be interested in going to the Bush library. Just opened last spring. Has a huge piece of the World Trade Center, full model of the Oval Office, and the "Decision Points" Simulator where you take advise from different sources and then vote on what choice you would have made on issues like Sadaam, Bailouts, etc. The 9-11 stuff is really chilling.

Campus is absolutely beautiful, I would highly recommend just walking around. Moody Colosseum is coming off a massive renovation and is absolutely spectacular. Y'all will enjoy the environment.

If any of y'all are KAs, feel free to stop by the house.

Apologize again for just posting this now, but hopefully this can at least help with making plans before and after the game.

I'm a fraternity man but I'm not going to the game

And am disappointed that in this entire novel of a post not once is the phrase "piss balloons" mentioned

Any list in this area omitting Patrizio is a farse. Please tell me it didn't close.
Used to live in Mockingbird Station and love getting back to area when in town for an LSU game or visiting friends.

Actually ate there not too long ago and it's still great. I'm going to throw Campisi's into the OP for Italian.

Best lasagna ever and prices are surprisingly cheap for Highland Park.

Funny I actually ate at the North Dallas Campisi's far more often than the one across the damned street due to my office location. But when friends would come visit from La we'd go to the 'real' Campisi's and act like we knew some shite about JFK they hadn't heard.
