>>>>>Wasn't this sort of thing at least indirectly addressed a few days ago in that great "A Memo to wives and girlfriends about the next two weeks" thread?
Just get them a bigger gift to take the edge off, since ya like that girl.
Where are they registered, Arby's?

I did tell her she was welcome to come after the wedding and reception though.
>>>>>>Well, here's my solution--from a girl's perspective. Tell her you can't make the wedding/reception, but you would--just to go with her--but you have tickets to the LSU game.
Then, ask her to not get another date because you'd like to hook up w/her at the game. Also, of the wedding's at 1 p.m. & the reception's nearby, how long is that damn thing gonna last?
Then, you beg, borrow and steal and figure out a way to get her to the stadium (even if she has to duck out early). Then, your first "date" is an LSU football game (and blowout), and sports dates are cool and not so over-the-top, ya know?
Also, she doesn't have to share your complete passion for football, but it's a great start anyways. Good night and Good luck!!!!!

Dont feel bad. If you start this relationship off picking her over LSU/Bama, it is doomed. If she is really interested, there will be other opportunities.
This really is a non-issue. Priorities man.

Traveled to NO last year for a wedding last year during the Bama/LSU game. Would have actually made the wedding if the game had not gone into overtime. Since the wedding was on St. Charles, there were plenty of watering holes close to the ceremony. Only women made the ceremony.

Geaux to the wedding. A game only last for a couple of hours, a relationship could last a lifetime.
I gotta go see about a girl
Dude, at least we've got Tivo now. If you had a ticket, that's completely different. If the girl is worth it, you gotta do the wedding. If she doesn't appreciate your sacrifice, drop her and fast.

when you get older you won't regret the games you missed, the women? oh, yeah.
I don't really regret the games I've missed in Baton Rouge. I guess if it were that important to me though, I wouldn't have moved out of Louisiana. I think I relish the ones I did get to go to instead, both home and away.
On TV though, there's this thing called a DVR. I can have my cake and eat it too. I just have to shut off my phone so I won't see the texts when I'm not live.
I have 4 kids - that is bigger than a football game, unless they're involved in it.

Bad thing is it sounds like the girl kind of went out on a limb to ask you. The way she said that the bride said she had to find a date or she would be fixed up sounds like she wanted to ask you but was afraid of comming across as too forward. Might also have been a hint to you to quit dilly dallying if you want to ask her out.
If you like the girl at all, I'd handle it delicately. She probably feels shot down in any event.
Maybe try real hard to get her to see how much LSU means to you and ask her if you went to the wedding and the beginning of the reception with her whether it would be ok if you left early to watch the game somewhere. (If the bride is just her co-worker it might not be that close of a relationship where she is expected to stay the whole time).

i have 6 sisters & they all have been specifically instructed/sternly warned that a wedding of theirs will not take place on an lsu gameday saturday. IF they choose to marry on such a day, neither me nor my brothers (at the very least) will be in attendance.
getting married during football season in an area that is football crazy is the most selfish thing someone can do.

My wife's best friend is getting married at 4 the same day. I will at least get to see the first quarter. During the wedding I plan to put my ear bud in and listen to the rest.

This is on the top 5 list of requirements for all LSU fans - no doubt. Luckily for you, this isn't her choosing. It's being chosen for her. The question is if she's pissed about it too. If she is, then that could be a good sign. I married an LSU nut too, so it's all good at my house. We got married in June because we knew better.

I'm the same way about the games. My girlfriend was in a wedding the day of the Georgia game. I had to leave with 9 minutes left in the game to go to the Church. I stood outside on the phone with my buddy giving me a play-by-play. He was ragging me pretty bad but sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Bottom line. As much as it pains me to say this, there are more important things in life than football. I can't believe I just said that

ok, stop the presses here.... everyone is MISSING THE POINT COMPLETELY....
Don't even worry about it, don't go. This chick is not someone who will be compatible with you long term, obviously, she doesn't share the same respect and passion about LSU football as you, so what's the problem??? That would cause a calamity of problems down the road (trust me), so she's not "the one" anyway.
If you're looking for a hook up, there are much easier (less messy) ways to go about that without hooking up with a co-worker to boot. IMHO this is a NON-ISSUE. BTW I had to listen to and watch last year's game at a fricking reception (my wife's family, so i had to).

Yea, 50% of them won't last 5 years. There are 52 weeks in a year, LSU plays 12 of them, and yet people still have trouble finding a way to have their stupid arse weddings in the remaining 40 weeks. Douchebags.

I agree, but the girl can't be blamed because her friend is an idiot.
The real question for me is if she's pissed about having to go too. That would be the litmus test.
