JJ having to win games with his arm. I am confident he can manage the game, but if we get down can he bring us back with his arm and make big plays when we need them.

I don't see how anyone can be confident about the linebackers. At least we haven't seen the new DL in action. We've seen these LBs for years now.

From what I've read, our punter hits them high but not very long.

I'd rather a punter that consistently kicks 35-40 with little to no return than someone who consistently out kicks his coverage.

Chris Jackson was great a kicking it really high around 40 yards. His punts were rarely returned.

Agree, but people seem to be pretty big on some of the promise Riley has shown. Cutrea has looked solid according to practice reports, etc. I think the addition of Coleman will be huge. Sheppard and Ryan Baker give us solid depth.

IMO its the D line. I think we will be fine at DT with Nevis, Alexander, Woods and Hicks. Alem is a great pass rusher, but is unproven as an every down DE and a run stopper in particular. I don't think Pep has really "wow'd" anyone with his play. The backup DE's are two RSFR that have never seen live action. DE has to be the answer IMO.

The pass rush is still the question. Alem will be fine against the run, despite the naysayers. Those people must have been asleep the last five games of last year. The question is, will we have anyone to help Alem pressure the QB? Never again do I want to see a team like Troy or Kentucky have all-day long back there to throw the ball. It has been a problem for a few years.

The outside LBs will be good with Riley and Coleman. Both of those guys are made for this defense. The question is MLB, but the outside guys should make up for that.

As I've been saying for months, the key to this season is Jefferson and the pass rush.

fricking great. Just in time for football season. It's not shocking that he's looking for negatives.

The weakness is plainly at QB. Lack of experience and lack of depth unlike any other spot on the team, except kicking.
The starter has two starts under his belt and he's a soph.
Let's get real here...

I'm not confident in the defense until I see them on the field against a quality SEC team. Even in 07 we didn't generate much pass rush while Dorsey was out with an injury. We didn't last season and until some DL steps up who demands a double team I have doubts that we will be any better this season. I hope I am wrong.

Our biggest weakness remains the chance that the Head Coach will interfere with his coordinators.

agreed, but (from what I've read, no link, just memory) it's more like 30-35, but I hope my memory is wrong.

Weakest link on lsu football team this year

Ok so far we have, OL particulary the center, rushing defense, pass defense, defensive line ability to put pressure on the opposing qb, the middle LBs, small defensive ends, QBs, kicking, kickoff team, and punting. What have we missed?

The DL will be fine.

I can't remember anyone ever running all over Tennessee...
