An arbitrary number of regular season wins doesn't necessarily = "success"

Ole Miss won 20 regular season games this year.
Mississippi State won 19.

One team is in the NCAA Tournament. And it's not the team that won 20 games.

The absolute bare minimum level of expectation for next season should be to be SERIOUS contender for a NCAA Tournament spot. And that's the bare minimum.

It's been proven multiple times now that a program/team can be completely rebuilt in the matter of ONE offseason. The perpetual excuses for losing should have never flown. But they absolutely should fall upon deaf ears next year. Rick Pitino took an entirely new St. John's team to the brink of the NCAA Tournament this season in his first year there. SJU literally had 12 new players (that's more than McMahon had in his first year at LSU). They likely would be in but for Oregon and NC State unexpectedly winning their conference tournaments. And that was a team Pitino said wasn't any good three weeks ago.

If we are not watching selection Sunday next year with a legitimate chance of LSU's name being called then it will be time to move on because any additional season will be nothing more than prolonging the inevitable.

He must get into the NCAA tournament or he’s gone!

Starting next year and pretty much going forward, CMM has to have this team at worst a top 65 team. That has got to be the floor. This even at our worst years will put us in the Bubble range.

We just increased on KP from 151 to 95, that's great and probably the second biggest increase in the SEC. But we aren't even close to the tournament. Its going to be harder to keep that increase going. Especially since the SEC is adding two better teams next season. Year 3 will in fact be pivotal for CMM.

He needs to make the NCAA tournament, however many wins that ends up being.

If you add in the moral victories we are well over 20. That's counts a lot to some people.

He's taking the Sharon Weston-Broome approach to "success". In 2021 EBR set a record for most homicides in a year (170). The next year that number was 135. It was obviously improvement relative to the prior year. In fact, I think they were celebrating the great "improvement". But it was still the third most homicides in a year over the last 24 years!

Yes, moving from 151 to 95 IS improvement. But 95 is still bad for a major conf. team. Just because you are improved doesn't mean you're "good"

If we can't finish in the top 68 teams, after three years, where is the bar set?

I agree with you. I’m just tired of the ignorant narrative that our OOC was weak. It wasn’t.

Ole Miss has 20 wins but shite the bed in conference play (seriously 2 of their wins came from Mizzou) and played a super weak OOC schedule.. and barely squeaked by some of their wins.

I agree 20 wins isn’t the end all be all but I do think it is a good benchmark and means you’re close to making the tournament.

Ole Miss' NET and Kenpom is still better than LSU's.

In order to make the NCAA Tournament out of a major conference like the SEC you have to be a top 40 team. It really shows your ignorance to say things like top 68.

Their 0-7 record against ranked teams did wonders for their NET/Kenpom

And tbf we are higher in EvanMiya

Edit- and although true I don’t think that says much.. congrats for being better than the McManiacs? Like
Still waiting for that NCAAT berth and them finishing above us in the standings (although you never said this). Maybe the NCAA will throw them a bone and schedule Missouri 3 more times in March so they can surpass our SEC win total.

IDK what some of y'all are looking at to point towards progress next year.
We just graduated most of the production from an average team this year
And who do we have coming in?
Y'all have some kind of expectation that McMahon gonna win 20 games without any players?
