WTF is this thread. Miles couldn't win with his "own" talent.

I am not defending Miles because it was time for him to leave but there was a notion that anyone can win with talent and resources at a school like LSU.

Even though Les had a bad last few years, he had many 10 win seasons and was competitive with Bama for many years

Now we aren't competitive with MSU

Looks like not every idiot can do it.

That narrative turns out to be complete BS

The goal posts continue to shift

The last three recruiting classes were top 10.

SO now theres no talent?

I mean..

New offense, thin lines, young players everywhere. I think eyes were opened last week as to where we are as a team.

Did you expect Natty in O's first year?

Give it a year or two with these coordinators. Let Brennan get some time next year..

Temper your expectations a little people

I maintain it is no point even discussing making any additional moves in the football HC arena until we have a new AD and possibly University President.

I'm 100% serious - it can be worse.

1 top 25 class since 2013.

we have more top 5 classes since 2013 as they have top 25 classes.

only once in the history of miss st have they had more than 5 players drafted

we are infinitely more talented than MSU IS.

I can handles a loss but really? Blown out and not competitive with MSU is a completely new and unacceptable. They aren't 30 points better

The ONLY reason O was hired was because of continuity, the plan was to hire the best coordinators and they will smoothly transition a talented team and have them compete

So now we need time? That was competely against every reason why we are running this experiment with the revolving coordinators, defeats the entire purpose if they always need time

If thats the case what hell is the point of this new system if we will always need time (year or two) to adjust?

If you and/or anyone thought it would be completely seamless then y'all were fooling yourselves.

247 "College Team Talent"

quote:

2017: #6
2016: #3
2015: #5

You are right, #6 compared to #3/#5. That fully explains getting routed by State, we were obviously way outmatched talent wise. Point of reference:

quote:

2017: MSU #25
2016: MSU #28
2015: MSU #28

This is not the recruiting class ranking, this is the composite of the current rosters recruiting ranking.

2015 Class
Tryon Johnson - No longer with the team
Maeh Teuhema - No longer with the team
Chidi Valentine-Okeke - No longer with team
Jazz Ferguson - No longer with team
George Brown - No longer with team
Isaiah Washington - No longer with team

That's 6 of our top 16 recruits in what would be the most senior of those 3 classes and doesn't include the couple of head cases that are still on the team.

And THAT's if you completely ignore that the class rankings don't care if you failed to recruit something. Theoretically, you could have the number 1 class on many sites while landing 20 WRs.

When you did in to our last few classes prior to today's freshman class at DT, OL, and QB, things get fricking ugly fast.

Seamless.

I expected some problems and some losses but not an LSU team quitting.

Losing is one thing.
Quitting is totally unacceptable.

Rivals

Over the past 5 years LSU's recruiting class rank average is Top 5, #4 actually.

Miles has always played a shite ton of freshman every year and we will always continue to because LSU recruits elite players who can play immediately.

This isn't new, this is just more excuses. Even with a younger team that should never result in a 30 point loss to MSU

I'll get killed for this, and I'm glad Miles is gone, but his players sure did seem to like playing for him

" we were told for years that any idiot could win with the talent that Miles"

Anyone who pays attention to that type of BS needs mental health treatment.

It is amusing that in 2015 our recruiting was ranked number five in the country and in 2014 our recruiting was ranked number two in the country, but now we have those trying to put forth the excuse for our sloppy, uninspired play and terrible loss to Mississippi State as due to recruiting.

Those goalpost keep on moving.

Partly due to him running off a lot of that talent.

This is a load of crap. I know it’s “en Vogue” to blame Coach O for everything bad that ever happened to the program, but it’s not like he told all the guys to GTFO.

And if the problem children stuck around, you’d bitch that he was running a loose ship and let the players do whatever they want.

He’s in a no-win situation with about half the fanbase.
