Lane knows his staff and players better than anyone. If he wants it, lets back him on it. It sounds like the board and the relative media "experts" out there are somewhat divided on it.

If a booster wants to open up some funds to get a former head coach to come and help... then lets do it.

I'd love to have every major assistant coach/staff member have some head coaching experience. That would be incredible.

There’s no downside to it. Everyone needs to stop the worrying nonsense.

I have not seen this. There are a handful of dumb people that don't see there is no downside to this. And then there are the other 95% of the people who think it's good news.

I've seen like 2 people on tigerdroppings.

And then a few Alabama/Ole Miss people on twitter who are obsessed with Kiffin and LSU hating on the move.

Of course, to a mind as simple as the OP's probably is, that equates to a divided nation on this topic.

Don't underestimate how scared of Kiffin coaching LSU some people are. Hell, a few universities tried to rally the troops to kick us out of the SEC.

To those people they mask what is actually fear, by attempting to question/minimize/criticize, any move LSU makes.

Yes but it’s the same people that would be upset about winning the lottery because of the taxes they would owe

No downside at all. He'd be an instant help. Just look at Will Wade's coaching staff as well as Kiffin's. No downside at all in hiring former head coaches.
