Beyond what he did for LSU baseball and college baseball as a whole, without Skip, there is no Nick Saban.

I know some people have mixed feelings on his AD tenure, but Skip was the one who oversaw the total overhaul of LSU football as it entered the new millennium.

Skip coached two more baseball seasons after Saban was hired. He did eventually hold the seat as Emmert’s plans came to life.

Saban himself said Skip was the first person he went to once he got to campus.

That doesn’t mean “without Skip, there is no Saban”, as he was hired by Emmert before Joe Dean was put out to pasture and before Skip had set his retirement date.

Skip didn't hire Saban. Dr. E did. When Dean wanted to go cheap, E overruled him.

Skip was the compromise hire AD. Emmerich wanted to hire someone really good. The problem was Cusimano and his good ole boys were still on the board and fought back. Cusimano would even argue with Saban. Skip was the compromise hire.

Noting a gross exaggeration isn’t being pedantic, it’s just noting a gross exaggeration.

Hell… I’d say no gymnastics national championship either. He helped DD build that program too.
