We have got to keep Canada........

I hope him and O have settled their differences because the offense is very bright with Canada running it. I am impressed with what he is doing with the offense with Danny Etling at qb. Cant wait until he gets a gunslinger.
Early season struggles seem to be just the normal growing pains of putting in a new system.
Another thing, Saban mentioned in press conference yesterday how difficult it was to prepare for.

I know it's difficult to believe because of what we've seen the previous 8 years, but there are good coordinators out there besides Canada.

Of course they're out there but you have Brennan and Narcisse who have almost a full year in his system. It would really suck to set that back. Canada proved last Saturday that he can move the ball on the best defense in the country. The thing that lacked was QB play. Canada + good QB play and LSU wins Saturday by at least a TD.

True, but offense even more than defense relies on familiarity with the offense. Having Canada for 3-4 years will only benefit us. We've slowly progressed all season. If we can hit the ground running from game 1 next year, it'll be that much better.

The problem is having to change the entire offense every time an OC moves on.
A smart thing to do would've been to allow Canada to bring a lot of his own guys in, guys that know his system well and can be promoted from within to maintain continuity. But oh well, this is what we have.

Based on results, Canada would stay.
However, reading between the lines, I think both Canada and Orgeron don't want that to happen.

I agree. And at some point when he does leave for a heading job we will find another one. But the whole point was that there was rumors of him and O not being on the same page and that was probably because O was skeptical at first like a lot of the fans. Well this looks like it can be a dynamic offense with the right signal caller.

not implying you may be wrong, but can you elaborate? I know there was friction after Troy.

If anywhere and anytime is to pause and build his resume LSU is it from a recruiting base and talent standpoint. The only thing "against" that would be playing against conference D's. And with the exception of 1, at this time, none probably worry him enough to prompt a job change.

Canada might be the driving factor that pushes Saban towards retirement

If Dabo can replace competent coordinators then we should be able to as well. Our key to success is recruiting at an elite level and maintaining an identity. Clemson is the blueprint. We can't be afraid of losing good coordinators because if they're good they will have opportunities.

The issue is there aren't a whole lot of OCs out there running Canada's system. If this offense becomes your identity your OC pool gets a lot smaller.

And how many of those currently work for LSU?
I agree with OP. LSU needs to hold onto him for as long as they can. It's just as likely that LSU goes out and finds a dud next as they do another Canada.

where is Canada going to go without taking a pay cut?

Agreed, but we know that his system CAN beat top level teams, and it does so without going full air raid. If we had a half competent QB against Bama, we very well may have won. The TD throws were there, Etling just missed them.

We would be in big trouble next year if Canada were to walk. You have to have some continuity in order to be successful.

That could be the beginning of the end for Orgeron....he will undoubtedly get "his" choice this time. Which I think will be his undoing.
With all the progress that we have made this season I fully expect O to F it up if he doesn't do whatever it takes to keep Canada and Aranda.

Especially true when your head coach tries to prevent you from doing it.

This seems to be literally the only reason he would stay....which for some people isn't enough.
O better give him other reasons to stay....but as someone said above I get the feeling that O is pushing him to the door.
