We have a school record .983.350 fielding percentage. Why can't the pitchers rely on that

Why can't they just throw it over the heart of the plate and let this All Star defense do the rest? You might give up one or two homers, but you won't walk 11 batters.

And also I agree with The Boat said in an early post..The main thing this team is lacking is upward classmen leadership.. There is no vocal leaders like Beloso, Cade Daughtry, Jobert, or Jordan Thompson

because good defense doesn’t beat throwing BP

If Shores and your boy from Catholic High just threw heat would it be that bad than walking a dozen batters?

I mean… maybe.

Shores’s issue is when he throws heat it doesn’t always go where he wants it to.

but yeah just throwing 95 over the heart of the plate is not competitive

Because when the bullpen pitcher gets ahead, Yeskie calls a breaking ball or fast ball to outside zone 7 (to the right hand hitter) and they miss. Once they miss they get all fricked up. Yeskie just needs to call zone 5 every time to the bullpen pitchers and the only variation should be off speed or fastball. So what if they get hit? Put the ball in play and let the defense work. At least there is a 70% of getting them out. If they make it to base by walking there is a 70% chance they are scoring. Throw damn strikes and stop trying to get cute with bullpen pitching. They are not good enough.

Can’t field if all you do is walk.

Because pitch calling nibbles at the edges. Hate that once batter has 2 balls.

Those pitches usually travel very far away.

The bullpen pitching is not good enough for this.

Even Eyanson gets a little erratic here too and misses. But he usually hits the spot next time which gets the batter guessing. Once the batter is guessing they start to chase. Eyanson gets a lot of batters to chase.

The bullpen pitchers are not good enough to nibble around the edges.

We are in an era where they are enamored about throwing gas at 96 & above and seeing those stats on the big screen, vice learning how to truly pitch which can mean pitch to contact and let your D work for you.

It starts with a strike and if you can't throw them, with ALL of your pitches, you have little chance of success.

Let's be fearless in the zone tonight, beat their arses, and move on.

I agree our defense is great and has been great.

The only thing is the team we are playing scored 22 runs on Saturday. You can't only throw meatballs over the plate and not get hit in the NCAA.

All that being said, I think LSU is pissed and will play a good game tonight.
