You want a coach who doesn't want the job?

Very happy with Coach O so far, but let's see how things pan out. I'll always respect the man for the way he stepped in and got things moving right away, regardless of what all transpires going forward.

You're right, he shouldn't be judged on these few games as an interim coach. He should be judged on his HC resume which is pitiful.

Do you really think Les would have beat Ole Miss?? I don't think so! Besides, Ole Miss gave Bama their biggest scare and could have won...

Ole miss scored a bunch at the end. Alabama controlled the entire game with ease

Didnt we lose to Ole Mss last year? I understand still being cautiously optimistic about O and this team. But don't be ignorant. Anyone looking at this team and program can see that this program is re-energized and the team is playing better football.

Anyone with the stance that Orgeron should only have a chance if he wins out is doing this team a disservice. Those are unfair expectations. No coach can guarantee winning out, much less in the SEC west. The two candidates that fans are clammoring the mist for have lost games at their respective schools. One of them just lost to a "cream puff".

Bottom line, O deserves an equal shot, based on the team's overall performance, not just their record.

The players play for Coach O and you can see it in there play. Is there any doubt who the coach should be?
at the end of the 1986 season the players loved mike archer too, with a young up & coming spurrier & mike shannahan on the table, how'd that work out for lsu. you can not make an emotional hire, & thats what this would be

We just had a coach with these qualities. Its been proven that motivation and recruiting will not beat bama. We have to have a guy that can recruit, motivate, and coach.

Nothing Ed Orgeron can do in 10 games ,with a team he didnt build, should qualify him for one of the best jobs in cfb. The people wanting Ed orgeron as lsu's head coach are not thinking long term.it would be better to give Aranda the job.

How about we tap the brakes a bit and wait and see? With Coach O, the LSU admin has the rare opportunity to evaluate a candidate's real-time performance and fit before offering the job. If he wins out, then hiring him to be our permanent head coach will be a no-brainer.

If he doesn't win out, but is competitive in every game, then the decision will be harder. Alleva will have to weigh his options carefully, and I hope he will explore those options fully. I wouldn't rule out Coach O, but I wouldn't narrow the search before this season is over.

Sure, it appears he can get a team excited to play and he lets his good coordinators (that he didn't hire btw) coach their positions. But that doesn't make him qualified!
Not really sure what else a head coach should be doing.
I would rather the head coach pay attention to the game as opposed to meddling with the play calling. That way we can manage the clock, timeouts, etc.

We already know he is a great recruiter, so what exactly would he be missing? Is there any reason to think we would have a dropoff in talent?

Good Lord. There is a ton of football left to be played. O is doing a good job so far, but can we at least see the entire body of work before we commit? Why the rush to anoint him? Lets see if he can maintain the momentum? Just take a deep breathe and let the season play out. Then, we can make an INTELLIGENT decision based on actual DATA and not a rush to judgement. This next hire is really important to us if we want to remain relevant as a top 5 program in the country. Take you time. Do it right.

damn well if head coaching is just worrying about timeouts and game clock, they should make me head coach. I'll do it for way less than Orgeron. Apparently it's the easiest job in football
