- Defense was better than any point last year.

- TJ and Max were neck-and-neck.

- Whole team had Covid in September.

- Damone Clark looked dominant and Cox was best player on the field.

Its called "coach speak" for a reason. Why would you ever take it at face value? Thats on you.

Please surrender your man card now. You won't be needing it any longer.

While i wont argue against a few of these statements. what was he supposed to say? well my team is just not very good and we will suck this year. Maybe he trusted Bo Pelini and toke those statements from him? he is a hands off coach.

Are you so gullible that you trust what coaches say at a press conference? .... that is like trusting that your car warranty has expired.

So a shrimp boat captain was better than every coach in the history of college football. If you’re going to give him “full credit” then that is FULL F’ING CREDIT. Interesting.

I will say you are probably correct that he won’t top last year. But until they increase the number of games or increase the playoff size, no one will top last year. They may equal what LSU did last year, but you cannot top an undefeated national champion.

I'm pretty sure it was something closer to most of the team had been quarantined at one point during the preseason practices. That doesn't mean they had it necessarily but had to quarantine because of potential exposure. I haven't kept up too much with this wave but its possible only a couple of guys even have it this time and again because of whatever the rules are with contact tracing a significant number have to quarantine regardless.

correct.
he said most.

what we don’t know is the “when” and the “how many”

per SEC protocol anyone that has had it don’t have to get tested again for 90 days.
so if any of them had it in fall camp, we’d still be in the 90 day window for them (or at least pretty close by now).

Are they exempt from quarantines due to contact tracing for 90 days as well? It sounds like that accounts for most of our players out at the moment, rather than actual positive tests.

There is a middle ground somewhere between saying “the defense isn’t very good” and it’s “better than at any point last season” after just going undefeated and winning a national championship. That statement goes beyond the “coach speak” cover.
