We can all agree that increasing Tiger Stadium capacity to over 100K was dumb, right?

Yeah, another stadium/crowd thread, but the endzone addition never made sense to me. Even before it, we were already seeing true hard sellouts dwindling as ticket prices rose and TV's got bigger and clearer, making it much more enjoyable for a lot to take in a game at home. Even before the usual traffic-induced mass exodus in the second half, it's becoming the norm to see a lot of empty seats in the upper decks.

Across the board in sports, you're seeing new stadiums built with more intimacy and more amenities, while there is also a growing movement of current stadiums that are being refurbished with more amenities/suites and downgrading total capacity.

Funny.

Everyone was all for it when it was announced.

That was because a lot of fans were blinded by the stadium space race within the SEC. It was all just a big dick measuring contest with Alabama, Tennessee, A&M, etc.

Again, really dumb and shortsighted.

This is all Bama’s fault. We had to keep up with Bama in the height of the Bama/LSU game ever since Saban has been there. Bama updated their stadium over 100,000 and a few years later, we did the same to keep up with them for recruiting.

If it wasn’t weird, I’d still sit in the student section.

Second choice is NEZ and unless forced, always choose it.

Last thing I want is some intimate feel or canned experience.

That's when Tiger Stadium was at it's best.

More people doesn't always mean more feeling.

67,500 with no Upper Decks was louder and rowdier than the current 102,000. Just LSU Die-Hard Fans making noise with their mouths and TGBFTL.......

The whole point of the expansion was never about increasing capacity to over 100k, it was built to add more suites and club seating and making the visitor section in the end zone smaller moving them to the top of the expansion.

It was, the upper decks are hardly ever filled. It made the stadium uninformed
and unpleasing to the eyes. But most of all it really has taken a bite out of the crowd and Roar of TS.

TS…..for a huge game… is still as good as it gets

We’ve just gotten spoiled and also our definition of “huge game” has also gotten spoiled. It happens when a program wins 3 titles in a little over a decade.

There was a time when a mere Top25 matchup in Tiger Stadium was a huge game.

I said so at the time. It was clear that college football attendance was losing momentum. What I didn’t think through is how 100,000 people would be so bottlenecked upon exiting.

Let us know when those suites and club seats are empty. Until then, it was worth every penny.

My guess is that the building capacity is not why LSU is struggling to fill it and keep it filled until the final play.

It is 100% about fan experience…from the moment they arrive in the general area to get to their parking spot until they exit the area and get to the major roads.

1. Work with the city on traffic management.
2. Improve lots and tailgating.
3. Have traditions that everybody looks forward to participating in and isn’t embarrassed of (sorry STTDB crowd…but this one unquestionably impacts some folks negatively. You can curse in crowd chants, but that one is over the top if you want to bring in a max crowd)
4. Put a great product on the field (DONE)
5. Provide good food and drink options
6. Entertain during timeouts and breaks in play with the band and highlights on the screens that reinforce the product on the field…not with hokey stuff
7. Have something meaningful happen after the final whistle of EVERY game…a tradition that people want to stay to see
8. Make egress lanes efficient
9. Good flow on vehicle exit.

If you had these basic things (most of which don’t cost millions) it would be filled for every P5 opponent.

It would have hurt recruiting at the time, to not do it.

It was the way of the big6.

Who knows, we may not have 2007 champs if not for it.

They should of just made the enzone expansion a big open area to drink and watch the game instead of more seats kind of like jerry world is set up

They should take attendance like elementary school. If your seat doesn’t get used, it’s a strike against you. After so many strikes, you lose your tickets. Obviously, there would be some circumstances that would give you a free chance. But you only get so many of those
