HVL seems to be trying too hard. I still say she will adjust and become the starting PG. Hell, she’s an All-American.

No doubt some tweaking to do but there is way too much talent on this team not to be serious contenders for another NC. And the adjustments will take place. I stand by my prediction that we will beat South Carolina handily in late January.

Spot on! The pieces just don’t fit whatsoever. I don’t know what you do with this team. My god if they didn’t have Mikaylah!! And Angel not expanding her game AT ALL does not help.

-There’s no offensive chemistry at all.
-Passing is an effort. Post to guard, guard to post. It’s a struggle.
-It seems one pass in, and it goes into a black hole intent on putting up a shot despite double & triple teams.
-Lots of one pass, then awkward iso shot/misses, that get saved by a rebound put-back or foul.

-Perimeter defense is and has been poor.
-Help defense is slow. Kent St has 2 & 3 players around our players as soon as they we have the ball.

We have got to get some outside shooting. Even Miss Valley had a girl get hot for a little while and she made about 4 against us in the first half.

LSU girls couldn’t hit a three pointer right now if the goal was the size of a hula hoop.

How do all these smaller schools have at least one player who can shoot from deep and we barely have one? Williams is our only descent 3 point shooter.

Agreed. It's way too early for some fans to overreact. I understand calling her out now for poor play, but I think she has enough history to believe she'll get right.

I do believe people are correct to say she's not a PG, but perhaps she will adjust. And I'm not watching yet, but read in this thread she's not even playing PG. Either way, she's still going through an adjustment on a new team. I still believe in her.

Lith has done well with assists where other players scored. She is an unselfish player. She looks frustrated though. Lith and Morrow will be fine, getting to know new teammates. Williams looks like a star on offense, but needs work on defense and minimize turnovers. It will all come together eventually after they figure out the pieces that work, get more experience and gel as a team. Their motto is "Piece it Together." Mulkey knew this early on. Media has overhyped this team all summer. We were not pre-season #1, maybe top 5-6, but not #1. They didn't practice together very long like other teams. When this team puts it all together, they will be on their way in the top 2-3 by January. That's when the season really starts.

So far, through 2 and 1/4 games, if Angel Reese isn’t getting the defensive rebound the other team does. We are a bad rebounding team outside of Reese. When Reese is on the bench we can’t even grab a rebound off of missed free throws from our opponent.

Reese starts the half on the bench, Kent Stste gets 2 offensive rebounds and converts with a 3 pointer

Completely agree. There's a lot of over reaction in this thread. Y'all, we have three new starters. HVL and Morrow are clearly still trying to figure out where they fit in. The team is extremely talented and Kim will get them all on one page. For those of you raving about Alexis Morris, you seem to forget she also struggled at the beginning of last year trying to take over for Kaylah. By the end of the season, it could be argued she was the best PG in the NCAA. Just trust in the process. This is only week 2.

So Reese obviously did something wrong in the locker room at halftime.

Mulkey is trying to get the egos in check right now.

But to be honest, Reese is the only reason we went into half with a lead. Everyone else, other than the freshman Williams, has played terrible.

Been a better 3Q. Morrow has given us a lift.

I honestly do not understand how HVL could be “out of shape.” Hell, she played basketball all summer.

But yes, 357 is correct. When Poa has to run the point, that is I hope a temporary band-aid.

I was envisioning HVL, Williams, Reese, Morrow, and Johnson blowing teams out and Kim substituting five. We are sure not there yet, but I think we get there.

I sure did not envision this team having this many growing pains, but there is just too much talent on this roster for this team not to be a super team by the time March comes around.

Mulkey is hardly subbing at all right now.

Don’t think Poole has even been in.

Mikaylah Williams is going to have her number retired one day.

Team is looking much better in the 2nd half. This is what great teams should do.

Kudos to Kent State. They’re a good team. But a big part of the narrative of this game was they shot the lights out from three for most of the first half. No way they were going to keep that up all game and that brought them down to earth.

Being the best group doesn’t mean that no one is rotated in at all

I think we’ve only played 7 girls all game and Reese hasn’t touched the floor in the second half.
