Yes she has. Morrow stunk on opening night as a starter, but has been highly effective scoring coming off the bench since then.

HVL is a willing defender, but still is a liability. She gets some occasional steals and charges from effort, but allows too much penetration past her & unfortunately leaves too much space between her and shooters.

She needs to find her game/shot/rhythm offensively to offset the points she allows. If she was scoring conisistently, especially when wide open, the defensive liabilties wouldn't be as glaring in these shouldn't-be-close quarters/games.

Agreed. She does give good effort.

HVL needs to stop letting the ball handler past her so she can try and poke the ball out from behind. Just stay in front and between the girl and the goal.

Van Lith's assist to turnover ration is dramatically better at LSU already than any year she ever had at Louisville

Its about her now getting comfortable scoring in her new role but she looked better today

The team collective still has to get better on D

I have gone back and watched the last few minutes of the first half and Reese was guarding Shumate. That doesn’t seem like a good matchup for us because it draws Reese out on the perimeter and not under the goal to get rebounds.

It's not a good matchup but Kent St is pretty small across the board and Shumate is their leading rebounder. She's pretty much an undersized stretch big for them.

So I don’t know. Maybe it was just Mulkey saying “your defense is terrible.” But I don’t recall Shaq ever being tasked with trying to stop Allen Houston from shooting 3s, so I’m not sure why we want Angel chasing ball handlers out past the 3 point line.

People play pick and roll at the top of the key now and if they have a stretch big you gotta get out on them. She's gonna have to step out from under the basket on Kitley when we play Va Tech.
And again, I'm not saying this is solely an Angel issue. I'm saying through her is the best way to send the message to all of them. And if you think Mulkey isn't sending messages to them, Poole didn't play a second.

If Hailey is on the player's hip during a drive, they already have the advantage and are usually scoring.

It reminds me of the ole fast-WR saying running with a slower CB: "If we're even, I'm leaving."

Agreed

Just listened to the press conference. Mulkey kept saying how well they played defend in the 3rd and 4th quarter. She went out of her way to say it a couple of times.

HVL and Morrow had good game today. They will get better each game and will be stars later on after they put the pieces together. They were #1 players on their previous teams and top scorers. Their teams kept them in majority of games and wore them out. They don't have to do that any more. Individually we have superstars, when they figure things out and gel as a team, they will be scary good. Mulkey and the asst coaches will have the task of putting the correct pieces together.
But my gawd, Williams is a freaking athlete, not playing like a freshie, games don't seem too big for her.
