I don't watch too many games, but it seems like every game I watch there is a girl on the other teams drilling 3s left and right. Almost can't miss stuff.

Still really excited with how the team played in the 2nd half. Williams is amazing.

Thanks for the answers! That's who I was thinking. I guess I forgot the Luther nickname.

I think Kim sensed the second-half run was a pivotal moment and a “coming of age” for newcomers Williams, Van Lith, and Morrow so she just left them in and let them play practically the whole second half.

Oh you are so right. I’d rather the roster be filled with scrub players rather than four All-Americans.

It was more than that. She was sending a message to all of them to play defense and bring intensity or else. Not saying Angel's the only culprit of that but no better way to send that message than through the All-American Final Four MOP.

I think Mulkey just sent a big time message to Reese today
It's why she's the best at what she does

It's also the reason she scheduled the most veteran team she could find in Colorado and agreed to play them in a place like Las Vegas - social media capital of the world

HVL and Morrow came into a culture shock from what their former programs did and are getting better

The team collectively though has to get better on defense, but HVL and Morrow are moving in the right direction.

Kim benched Reese because she wasn't happy with her perimeter D and hustle for a couple rebounds and let the hot hand play in the 2nd half.

Angel plays hard on defense. It’s not her fault that others on the team are allowing opponents to make 3s and it’s an obvious hole in rebounding when Angel isn’t in the game.

Angel shot up a quick 3 early in the game and got benched. Came back in in the 2Q and was the reason we had the lead at half instead of losing. But something happened in the locker room so she didn’t play in the second half. But don’t say it was because she wasn’t hustling or playing defense.

I didnt see the start of the game, and started watching after Reese was benched in the 1Q, but when she came in during the 2Q she seemed to be playing hard. She finished the first half.

Did you see her not working hard on defense?

Thank you Williams, unbelievable game, fun watching her. I'm not trying to downplay the win coz we had fantastic 2nd half 70 points, but we have to (have to million times) contest other teams 3 point shots. Can't leave them free like we have every game this year. Without the 3's, we would beat most teams by 40-plus points. And 2nd glaring thing, we're missing a lot of points on FT line. Don't know why these 5-star studs can't hit most of the free throws. Please practice practice over and over. It will come back to bite us in close games.

She did but I think Kim was not happy about her getting out on the perimeter to contest some shots

That said, she let the hot hand roll like I said.

She lost Shumate a couple times right before half and gave up 3s. She is not the only one to do that this season but the most effective if you want to send a message to them all.

Adjusting to the point? She was an all American point guard the last two years. SMH.

Shumate is a guard. That’s not her man. Angel should be near the lane to get rebounds not chasing guards at the 3 point line. I don’t think that was it.

Based on Angel playing well in the second quarter with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Based on her not touching the floor in the second half.

I respectfully disagree with 357 when he says Mulkey rode the hot hand in the second half. You don’t sit your All American who had 11 points in the previous quarter unless there is an injury or for disciplinary reasons. If she wasn’t hustling, then she would have been pulled out before the end of the half.

Van Lith was more of a score first 1/2 at Louisville. She played off the ball today when Poa was in.

One thing we have observed about HVL, she hustles every play, always gives 100% every play. She is the energizer bunny. She leads team in assists, unselfish player, always congratulates other teammates when they score or good defensive plays.

If she's raining 3s and you're the one in front of her you better be on her whether it's your scouting report man or not.

Unless you're sending a message to them about something she's talked about from after the first game when they gave up bunch of 3s.

I have gone back and watched the last few minutes of the first half and Reese was guarding Shumate. That doesn’t seem like a good matchup for us because it draws Reese out on the perimeter and not under the goal to get rebounds.

Shumate hit one with Reese in her face, but Reese did lose her once on a cross court pass and couldn’t recover quick enough.

They switched Reese to a different player and then that player hit a 3. They did take Reese out with 48 seconds left in the half.

So I don’t know. Maybe it was just Mulkey saying “your defense is terrible.” But I don’t recall Shaq ever being tasked with trying to stop Allen Houston from shooting 3s, so I’m not sure why we want Angel chasing ball handlers out past the 3 point line.
