We all hope you're right, Hank. Hopefully these guys come out fired up and E really has been holding some stuff back. I don't see how we beat Auburn with the offense we've seen the last 2 weeks.

If you are counting on Rosenthal and Hines at Aub or even this year, I am afraid you will be disappointed.

Getting Charles back will help.

Deculus? He lost out to Magee and Traore just 3 weeks ago and was moved and has been practicing at G.

Maybe he’s better than Traore at RT.
Maybe not.

I get you want to be optimistic.

But optimism based on a T who lost out for playing time, was moved to G and now back to T

AND

A couple of freshmen that are not gonna play this week or year isn’t realistic.

None of this explains Burrow being harrased and hit all night though. If Auburn had played SELA and put up the exact same numbers and Stidham was pressured like Burrow would you be saying their offense will be fine ?

Then he was short sighted and possibly stupid. You don't need to protect a lead vs teams like SLU. You don't need to hold back. You need to work on your game and perfect it in what should be a glorified scrimmage. You need to develop a killer instinct on offense and attack. There is nothing gained by "holding back."
I don't see other major programs "holding back."

This is what always gets me when people say LSU was vanilla on offense. We've heard it for years, yet other teams run their offense and light up the scoreboard vs rent-a-wins.

Some people will always see the team they love as the best and pick them to win every game, no matter what. Others have a more objective view and see the players and coaches for who they are. This isn't new to message boards. When I used to go to games with my dad as a kid, it was the same kinds of arguments over how well LSU was going to do in a particular game or season. That was in the 80s and early 90s. Some of those guys were still convinced LSU would win the SEC.

Exactly. It makes it more fun for the players. They get to showcase some talents and feather their stats. But most of all, teams hone their offensive skills, develop chemistry and get that "give no quarter" mentality.

Not only that. IMO, it's a good idea to put your players in situations during the cupcake games that they're going to be in during the other games. It doesn't seem like the best idea in the world to have a new QB and new WRs running plays for the first time against a very good Auburn team on the road.

Hmm.

The game I watched was one where the Oline was so bad that they had to max protect the QB and only sent 2-3 receivers out against at least 5 DBs.

Either the receivers couldn’t get open or Burrows has to hold the ball a long time to make sure they were open.

We can only hope Ensminger adjusts and starts running more dink and dunk to alleviate some of the pressure off of Joe or it’s going to be a long day.

If we can’t run, it’s going to be a really long day.

True, if you watch the tape it shows that we where trying to go down the field with max protect with only two wr going out. I believe moving AD to right tackle will free up more time for Joe to feel more comfortable in the pocket. Remember he started at right tackle last year at Florida and played well against Cece Jefferson !

It's what Les Miles did too and when you have a new offense why not do this. When you have an offense that has plenty of tape to look at then it really doesn't matter. Run your full gauntlet but when it's a new offense and you can introduce new things to a defense every week and still win comfortably then do it.

I still think we could have done both not showing much and whipping up on them the entire game and that's what's frustrating. The OL still has work to do but it was actually great practice and great film for our OL going forward. They brought just about every blitz you can think of and was really the only way they could slow us down so they did it.

If this OL was in mid season form we would have smoked them. I feel for La Tech and Rice now. I would really like to see LSU win this game but they are honestly going to have to play as good as Auburn offensively to win. Our defense is better overall and our STs is better overall so if our offense can keep up with theirs, we can win this game.

I want to see our secondary step the frick up bc they will have to in this game. I would like to see some picks to make Stidham think twice before he throws. If we can shake him up and bit then I think Burrow can have a better game if our OL picks their game up this week. GT

Yes, eventually. But, there is a segment of the fanbase that thinks LSU will win every game, no matter what kind of team we have.

Isn't that what we heard about the Miami game as well? Didn't they say a lot of that same stuff last offseason?

I am not sure you should speak for everyone here.

I watched the game and was never disappointed. Not because I think we are holding our cards close to the table, but because any rational person will tell you that it's almost impossible to take away an assessment from an FCS opponent.

I have no idea what to expect, but I do understand that we had a few guys out up front, and that's gonna hinder anyone.

I never was disappointed, and I don't feel any more optimistic right now. I simply don't know what to expect, and won't until around 5PM Mountain time Saturday.
