Hahahaha ... I was never a huge star in high school or college, but I think anyone that watched that game saw that LSU wasn't playing up to their capabilities.

Was it a bad week of preparation? Did the players take Troy too lightly? Did the coaches? I don't have the exact answer, but I do know that they weren't into the game and that's what got them beat.

Anytime a team is that flat, it's universally put on the coaches. That goes for any sport too.

you're dead wrong.

Motivation is one of the three most important aspects of coaching (recruiting, game planning/scheme, motivation).

Coaches can absolutely influence their players with respect to motivation. There's no doubt that players can't play at max intensity for every game for 12 straight weeks. There are natural ebbs and flows throughout a season, but it's the coach's job to get the players ready to play each game.

This is a fair answer. One which no other posters are willing to concede. Nobody knows for sure. It was glaringly ugly.

I think most people agree that O's meddling caused us to frick the pooch in the first half. After that, it was catch up time and Troy was just good enough to hold on while we were reeling a bit. Its probably that simple.

No your dead wrong.

I can't speak for you, but I still play sports and I sure as hell don't need any "coach" to "get me fired up!"

If you can't motivate yourself to give 100% the entire game....then you're a lazy frick who needs to be riding the fuking pine and cheerleading.

You were prolly one of those guys who got a shite ton of splinters in your arse from riding the pines...if you even played sports growing up.

Because that’s what head coaches do—they accept blame....

How do you know for sure it wasn’t really the other way around.....

And coach O could’ve just threw Canada under the bus and said.....hey it wasn’t my idea to run the offensive that way in the first half....it was this guy and his complex offense that the players can’t seem to grasp...

You don’t know.....maybe coach O is just took the brunt of the criticism upon himself.....

You can only speculate

This is my favorite part. Maybe it was Canada's idea to run plays from the '16 playbook and Coach O did the honorable thing by falling on the sword.

I wish someone would come out and just admit that they are O fans and not LSU fans in particular so that we could have a discussion. I just don't see anything on his resume and his life that inspires this much illogical obsession with protecting him, justifying his failures, etc. It's not like he's publicly charismatic, or that any of us have met the guy at length.

It's honestly sort of strange that he gets this kind of support.

What's the strangest thing about it is, given his resume and what he brought to the table, if he was from somewhere else there is NO WAY the LSU fan bae would have supported either his hire or his first season given it's downs.

I tend to just smirk at the accusation that so many just support him because of the "one of us" thing...but holy frick...can anyone argue they'd support this guy this much if his name was John Thompson from Iowa and our AD hired his career position coach arse who when given the opportunity to be a head coach in the past failed to a tune of 10-25 in our own division of our very own conference? It's like there is a portion of the base that is so excited to see one of their own on the sidelines that barring a catastrophic there is nothing he can do that will be seen in a negative light.

And those of us who don't blindly support this knucklehead are told we're hurting the program... This entire thing reeks of identity politics.

2016 - 28.3 PPG 432.1 YPG

2017 - 27.2 PPG 411.1 YPG

It would’ve been the right call.

You're mistaking people wanting "one of their own" with that same group wanting anyone other than Miles.

Your group, if left to your own devices, would have kept Miles here until he ran the program all the way into the ground. Pathetic!

I would agree if it had been the whole season. I wasn't a fan of the Canada offense the minute I saw that they couldn't run the ball with the running backs vs BYU.

"anyone" other than Miles is a fricking idiotic opinion, and it's partly responsible for the mess we're in now. But...given your blindingly stupid opinion that a loss in the National Championship game is worse than losing at home to a Sun Belt team, that's not really a surprise.

See...again, you're left to strawman others instead of using actual facts. Even those us us who backed Miles for the longest got on board with his firing by the end. Hell...I wasn't the biggest proponent of firing him at the end of 2015 but I would have supported making the move simply to end the nonstop bickering within the fan base. Even when we were winning there was a contingent that was never happy, and those people made the rest of us miserable. I was officially on board with 2016 being Miles final season when we came out against Wisky and there was NO CHANGE to the offense at all. Still loved the guy, but as our head coach I was done.

So, once again...you're either lying or you're ignorant. I fully supported firing Miles before the axe actually fell. I'm sure that if anyone wanted to go back and find posts of mine from the week following the Wisky game they'd fine me saying exactly that. Or...you could just continue to put words in my mouth. It is easier than getting it right.

Grudgingly because at that point you had no choice and the big money boosters were fuming. But feel free to continue faking it and acting like moving away from Miles was the prudent and logical thing to do.

Like I said, he'd still be roaming the sidelines and eating grass if it was left solely up to you.
