The game had so much more wrong with it than this play, but I was so confused as to why Washington slowed down and went for that weak tackle at the knees. He had him dead to rights and could have sent him to the injury tent if he wanted. Obviously I’m not saying to straight up target him, but you have to send a message if the guy isn’t gonna fair catch, right? I just didn’t understand him letting up like that, unless there is a new rule on punt return tackling that I’m not aware of.

EDIT: had the missed tackles by Washington and Delane swapped in my head.

I’m not necessarily just blaming him. Maybe he was coached to approaching it that way. I don’t know, it was a small thing that just looked off to me.

Looked like Delane thought he did call for the fair catch.

Our defense and special teams need to headhunters, not passive defenders.

We have the talent to get real aggressive, IMO.

In fact, I'm good with 1-2 swag penalties per game.... opponents should fear us!

He had to wait for him to catch it, he didn't want to hit him too early.

I thought it was 33 on the initial miss and Delane was the defender who was stiff armed as the returner was turning the corner?

Yea Washington is the one you're talking about. Delane is the one who got the stiff arm. Either way both looked embarrassing af

Pretty sure Delane fricks up everytime he comes in

So they are now getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to millions and they still can’t be held accountable? At what point can they be held accountable to the decisions they make on the field of play?

OK, I'll blame the official who was standing right there looking right at the play near the sidelines, and LSU 57 received a 2 hand push by KY 5 in the middle of his back to divert him behind the runner he was lined up to either tackle or push ob. So yes, if the ref looking right at the play makes the proper call, KY doesn't score, and I suspect LSU wins the game. I saw in in real time, and the next day on slow mow replay, and LK even commented about it. The ref just didn't call the very obvious block in the back.
